Boy, this digs up stuff in the memory banks. Saw 'em about three times in the early nineties but Jess is OTM.

Blonde and Blonder was one of the first albums I bought with money that I had earned w/ sweat. I later sold it to my brother for $10. (I used to sell CDs to my kid brother because it was like, y'know, we lived in the same house, but he would give me money, and I could still listen to it any time I wanted, or else he'd get a wedgie!) I wonder if he still has it. He never gets rid of anything.

I used to freakin LOVE the muffs. Saw 'em at CBGB's twice. Met the lead singer back stage. Asked her to marry me. She said no.

jeez, everyone had a crush on her. one of my friends just made me a best-of on the Muffs, haven't had time to listen to it yet. I think his interest in the band was extra-musical.

Anyone want to form a kazoo and drum-machine-based Muffs internet cover band?
(I don't have a kazoo)

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 26 June 2008 05:19 (eighteen years ago)

four years pass...

Weird how people talk about all kinds of shitty music on here and ignore really good stuff like this. Tragic.

OutdoorFish, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 19:09 (thirteen years ago)

Your contributions so far aren't exactly hall of fame stuff.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 19:11 (thirteen years ago)

Well that certainly wasn't.

OutdoorFish, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 19:26 (thirteen years ago)

I like em but I can see why there's not a ton to say about them. Kim shattuck's doing some solo shows with Frank Black these days I think, and the band have been saying they have an album already to be mixed for ages. I guess there may be some things for people to talk about there... or did you want to keep the discussion focused on the lack of Muffs discussion, Outdoor Fish?

S: Everything
D: Nothing

Borderline classic.

^ from the other Muffs thread you revived. I'm certainly a fan. I just object to your characterization that all other discussion on ILM is about "shitty music" and that we ignore the good stuff. Some days we go absolutely 90s guitar rock CRAZY around here.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 19:46 (thirteen years ago)

Man, "Lucky Guy" was my jam, oh, TWENTY YEARS AGO. Someone shoot me now please.

New album from The Muffs. It is named Whoop Dee Doo. I like this title because...

Black Francis on Kim Shattuck's dismissal from Pixies: "This is a rock band. There's been a shift in the lineup, big whoop-dee-doo."

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 26 July 2014 12:49 (eleven years ago)

single ain't bad
