Does anybody know where I can get hold of any of the Disco Zombies songs? In particular, Sex Olympics and Greenland. Also, does anybody have a contact address, email or otherwise, for Dave Henderson?

Thanks.

hey people, as much as I love halloween disco, and am throwing a disco party on halloween (see http://www.alldisco.net ) I'd like to know more about the Disco Zombies, and especially the post-punk band they turned into, Club Tango.

creme1, Sunday, 13 May 2007 10:29 (nineteen years ago)

is dave henderson the same fire engines guy?

creme1, Sunday, 13 May 2007 10:30 (nineteen years ago)

well anyway i spoke to my dad about it. he says it is definitely meant as satire. does anybody have any opinions on this? it is a really good tune but i'm just not sure about the lyrics

creme1, Sunday, 13 May 2007 10:34 (nineteen years ago)

I think I asked the same question on here a year or 2 ago. I'm not sure either. It's quite possible they're meant as a parody but they sound like they mean it, and given the time the song was written it's just as likely they did. I never managed to find out one way or the other by googling. Shame cos it's a good song otherwise!

Colonel Poo, Sunday, 13 May 2007 21:57 (nineteen years ago)

Not the same Dave Henderson as the Fire Engines.

Club Tango released 2 singles, 2 songs each, and are really wonderful. Nobody's been able to track them down (the band, not the singles), I don't think Chuck Warner has even been able to.

Chuck finally tracked down some Club Tango - "Performance" is on Messthetics 107 and it's a particular highlight, fantastic track.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Monday, 30 November 2009 22:23 (sixteen years ago)

Oh and M107 also has Disco Zombies "Here Come The Buts" and "Greenland", both excellent as well.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Monday, 30 November 2009 22:28 (sixteen years ago)

I meant members of the band, not the singles. I don't know why I said that in any case! I have one of the Club Tango singles and 2 Disco Zombies singles. Dave Henderson is easy to track down because he's an editor at Mojo and is involved with Universal's project of putting cool out of print stuff online. Actually he tracked me down because he wanted to use Metal Urbain on a Mojo CD giveaway of awesome punk and I said we couldn't because the rights are messy so I gave him The Prefects instead.

You should look forward to hearing more Disco Zombies soon, hopefully!

Cool, was just curious!

dan selzer, Tuesday, 30 August 2011 14:32 (fourteen years ago)

this is sounding great! dig the drum machine-y stuff towards the end, too.

tylerw, Tuesday, 30 August 2011 14:52 (fourteen years ago)

Cool. The conventional wisdom among many of the punk fans/collectors for whim Drums Over London is a collectible single is that the drum machine stuff is them getting boring. The flipside is that I think there are people who will really dig that stuff if they get the chance to hear it, even if they're turned off by the poppier non-drum machine stuff. In any case, I like the whole range. Kugelberg appreciated the drum machine stuff, the third single appears on his top 100 DIY list from Ugly Things.
