The Chalets - The new Bis?

I just heard the debut album of Dublin band The Chalets. There are a couple of likeable songs there, some of them in the mood of Bis, indie pop with girl/boy vocals, and some punk/synth sound.
It's good to have them, I say.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement, that. Still, I sort of like them, even if the constantly-popping-up sillhouette of the three men in red ties on their website makes me think of Alkaline Trio.

two years pass...

'no style' is a great tune. the rest are kinda hit and miss

a) the chalets album is not only an absolute classic but a big, immediate, obvious one. I'm convinced there's like, a cilantro gene that makes people not hear this
b) the reason I bring this up is that september girls (their third-I-think incarnation, after talula does the hula, which was straight-ahead indie pop and *actually* hit or miss) has a new album. while their old stuff has generally been too lo-fi for my taste this one is very good! as if they decided "David Boring" was the best Chalets song. "John of Gods" gives me Throwing Muses-circa-The Real Ramona vibes which is not the reaction I expected at all

I had no idea they had gone onto other things, and this makes me so happy. Will definitely be checking these out this weekend, thanks katherine. :)
Agreed on the album being classic! still give it and the nightrocker ep a listen every now and then. Your David Boring reference told me everything I need to know about the new stuff.

I've never heard of them but that's a very intriguing pitch! I'll have to check them out sometime (xpost)

oh thank god I was worried I was being that asshole going on about shit no one had heard

(you could just as easily say it's their garage-rock album but I mean)
