saw a new album out by him in the racks today on the gronland label. anyone know if this is any good ?
there is a lot of high profile quotes on the labels website, could be a perfect 'time of the year' album for me from the sounds of it, a very low profile return in comparison to the excess of last time.

Was the last album generally considered to be a Good or a Bad? I remember Death Throes Melody Maker really loving it, and NME giving it 3/10 or so, the sleeve was slick and beautiful and pretty rubbish. I only remember La-la-la-la-la-Lovely Daughter. "Male Bjork!", but probably not, hrm?

i loved Many Rivers apart but didn't like the album that song came from. i was wondering if it was even the same Merz when i saw the record in Fopp yesterday.

jed. yup it is the same one (http://www.merz.co.uk), songs i have heard are very different. much more natural sounding than the first album stuff, 'warm cigarette room' is absolutely gorgeous.

gosh.
after all this time i never expected to see this thread revived.
but then cutty and i do have a sonic connection and i would suggest that merz is not a million miles from our other shared passion.
wonder what his last album was like, as i never picked it up, but do recall reading some positive words here and there

I liked Many Rivers Apart. Bought the next one (Lotus?) for the Mouse on Mars remix on the flipside, A-side was OK but can't remember it. Similar with the album from that era, to be honest, but I'll dig it back out.

Had no idea he was still going - tell me about his more recent stuff.
