"Out There Somewhere" by Orbital

Oddly, despite the fact that they were recorded some 30 years apart, the alien noises are remarkably similar in both songs.

What other songs with aliens in them can you think of? Actual alien voices. And I don't mean imitations either; both the songs I mention feature actual real live extra-terrestrials.

OOLAA.

There is a great track by Suzy Q called "Computer Music" in which she declares that computer music is the future because it makes her alien friends dance. (I paraphrase). The aliens don't actually sing on it though.

mike powell (mike powell), Monday, 24 October 2005 23:30 (twenty years ago)

Spaceman came down to answer some things,
The world gathered round from paupers to kings,
I’ll answer your questions, I’ll answer them true,
I’ll show the way you know what to do,
Who is wrong and who is right?
Yellow, brown or black or white?
The spaceman he answered “You’ll no longer mind...
I’ve opened your eyes, you’re now colour blind”.

owen moorhead (i heart daniel miller), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Are there any aliens in Magma? Or isn't it just Earth people who've moved to another planet?

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

Or maybe you just think they are Earth people because you understand their language, Dada.

k/l (Ken L), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

figurine's 'our first kiss' has aliens in it. aliens in it. aliens abduct the singers right in the middle of the song, hold them for a few bars and then drop them in the middle of nowhere to resume their song.

Dan Gr (certain), Wednesday, 26 October 2005 17:54 (twenty years ago)

Sym Sym (sym), Wednesday, 26 October 2005 23:30 (twenty years ago)

i thought the figurine song w/ the alien abduction was called 'my first ufo'?

the nazis from mars have a couple of songs where they even say they're not from Earth (Cosmic Rebel, Girl from Another World).

sonore, Thursday, 27 October 2005 06:56 (twenty years ago)

whoops. yeah the figurine song is "my first ufo" i got it confused with the lyrics which are about having a first kiss while being abducted. no? it's been a while since i've listened to it.

Dan Gr (certain), Thursday, 27 October 2005 12:58 (twenty years ago)

theo, Friday, 28 October 2005 08:40 (twenty years ago)

What? Such a large thread, and no mention of "Loving The Alien" yet?

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 28 October 2005 09:57 (twenty years ago)

Who was that woman who reckoned she'd recorded her album on the moon or mars or something? A really quirky 60s/70s thing? I found a copy in a shop in Camden once and didn't buy it, and have regretted not doing so.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Friday, 28 October 2005 09:59 (twenty years ago)

Clones and aliens need not be mutually exclusive.

Yes, but in this case they are. Never forget that they are children of production, produced in conjunction, with the urgency of Dr Funkenstein

Oh No, It's Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 28 October 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)
