Krunk Aid

This weekend, I've got to play some pop tunes for a big crowd to make everyone dance and grind and all that. My cluhb collection might not be big enough for 5 hours or so. I know everyone here loves top 40 and dirty south, so give me your favorite ass-clapping tracks so I can rock the party for as long as necessary.

It would be especially super if you could point out some sneaky tracks by musicians much loved among music nerds, like track two on M.I.A. and Diplo's Piracy Funds Terrorism.

This is my first post by the way, so I get to come out as a lover of mainstream rap immediately! Thanks everyone.

I've been doing this every Saturday for a while now. It's a really hilarious situation. Some of my personal faves that get results are

David Banner - Play
D4L - Big Shit Poppin'
M.I.A. - $10
Pharell feat. Jay-Z - Frontin'
Julez Santana - Freaky, There It Go (whistle song)
Khia - My Neck, My Back
Lil' Kim - Big Momma Thing
Missy - Pass the Dutch, Wake Up
Busta - Light Your Ass On Fire

It used to be ironic for me, but damn, those pop songs will get into your head.

I agree, that is hilarious.

Um, all those songs are good. Listening to anything in quotes is deeply duddish to me.

Then again, you could say that a lot of the mash-up and hollertronix stuff is using the music in that way. It's tounge-in-cheek. Like Diplo and DJ Food sampling Smells Like Teen Spirit. Can anyone take that song seriously anymore?

"It Used To Be Ironic For Me" should be an indie song.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 3 April 2006 17:09 (twenty years ago)

"Do you remember a time? When your cigar was ironic?" line by shellac could be recycled at the authors discretion.
