Sorry if this looks like continuing the JP deification process but I heard it being read on Radio4 this morning and it sounded great. It's £18.99 though, should I wait for the paperback?

£5 off in a lot of shops, if that's any use.

(£6 off in whsmith.)

finished john's section yesterday (sheila wrote the last 2/3rds or so and from the 20 or pages i've read of her stuff it's denser, if anythingm in the anecdote department than john's bit (which ends before he starts broadcasting in america))

I think I'm going to save this for my Christmas list because it's nice and easy for the parents/grandparents. The guy reading it on R4 sounds all wrong, but only because he's not JP. It's not his fault of course, but I don't really want to listen to any more. At least when I read the book I'll be able to hear his voice in my head.

guy reading it on the radio is Thomas The Tank Engine!

oh, pictures are good too.

Ah, now if they'd got Ringo to read it...

It's surprisingly good, especially the Sheila section. Mrs Ravenscroft is extremely funny, easily her husband's match, and perfectly happy to point out his faults and incipient Aspergers.

The fact that a lot of it was written by Sheila did put me off - in fact I'm sure someone else has written it with her - but from what i've read here and heard on the radio it sounds like a winner. I reckon I'll have to shell out.

lots of genuine laughs, but cant deny I welled up at the end.
