Is there any demand for one of these ever again? Would it more likely to be aired on MTV2 these days? What recent videos would most likely be included?

Fall of '97. It was the same exact thing as the second-to-last time they played it, which was in Spring of '97, except they threw in thirteen new-ish videos and bumped the rest down accordingly (the highest of the new entries being Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missing You" at #18).
The first time this thing aired was a defining moment in my life, to say the least. And no, there's absolutely no way they could do it again, even on M2. Maybe when/if MTV comes out with their equivalent of VH-1 Classic.

Many years ago, I had hoped that at some point MTV would consider possibly putting together some sort of "Breakthrough Video" countdown, but I gave up on that dream years ago.

When I was a wee lad, i stayed home on Labor Day weekend to watch all of the top 300 videos ever.
I remember the Top 500 was REALLY accurate, as opposed to the rose-colored glasses versions of these things they usually show. Like Musical Youth and the Who's "Evidence Front" we on it... videos they hadn't played in a decade, as opposed to the usual trotting out of the GNR videos that still get airplay at 3am.
