post em here: the worst "fashion" of any and all rock bands from 50s-70s, cause yeah though they may have rocked they looked like real bozos (i still think they look kool, but what would the chicks say...) this shall be a collection of the best of the worst. it don't matter if they're famous either... the cover of clear light is the perfect example... or here's one for the books, creme soda's "tricky zingers" cover:
http://www.slippytown.com/cremezin.jpg
i think the LP actually sports a different cover but this photo is tops. the guys on the ends are what i'm kind of going for here....

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Thursday, 27 October 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

one of my favorites has always been the contrast between this:
http://www.icemagazine.com/stories/173/images/velvet_underground.jpg
and this:
http://www.humnet.ucla.edu/echo/Volume1-Issue1/middleton-media/undergroundsunglasses.jpeg
the first one looks like they could be recording coke-binge lite-rock, the second, well hipper than thou...

jack dee, Thursday, 27 October 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

That's a tie-dye Lou Reed is wearing, isn't it?

Maureen does not look like a coke-head, Jack! They look like a '70 era pop/bubblegum band there, I think.

jack dee, Thursday, 27 October 2005 19:29 (twenty years ago)

yeah you're right tim. i spoke too soon... they need big blazers to be a true coke band... but hey i think it is a tie-dye shirt!

jack dee, Thursday, 27 October 2005 19:30 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, those silk things the SAC wore.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Thursday, 27 October 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

the seeds were really a master of this look... thrown together costumes, random objects, and big deviant haircuts.

jack dee, Thursday, 27 October 2005 19:41 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, they did actually use the oud! They were music students, I believe.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Thursday, 27 October 2005 23:55 (twenty years ago)

Rush looks like characters off of the original Battlestar Galactica, which I suppose was the point. I used to have this huge montage poster from 2112 that had a better picture with Alex Lifeson looking like some Dutch girl a the hippy commune circa 71.

Ed King was rocking the same bowl haircut in the Skynnrd days.

Well if the point was to look "futuristic," then yeah, but 2112 actually pre-dates "Battlestar Galactica" by about two years.
