This song I actually liked before they covered it, but Now I Like It More.

C or D?

I've never heard the original, but this one's pretty good. I like how there's a Jack White in each channel.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Friday, 28 October 2005 03:42 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, pretty good.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 28 October 2005 03:43 (twenty years ago)

I always think I'm bored of the White Stripes until I actually hear them, and then I'm not bored of them. (Well...the new album's kind of boring.)

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Friday, 28 October 2005 03:52 (twenty years ago)

I was listening to it yesterday and it wasn't as boring as I thought.

rogermexico (rogermexico), Friday, 28 October 2005 03:54 (twenty years ago)

It's still good.

Well, it's just fucking monotonous enough to be a white stripes original. so i like this version more. i'm impressed he hits the high "pleeeaase."

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

New album's my favorite of 2005. Can't wait to hear this.

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

I really like the original a lot!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

I wish he'd picked one the 9 or so tracks I prefer to "WWAG" on the album and this doesn't do much for me, but I think its cool that the White Stripes tipped them the hat like this.

miccio (miccio), Friday, 28 October 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

What's this from? This mp3 sounds super-compressed (not to sound too gift-horsey). Still, excellent...

Stuck to a Seat in the New Beverly (Bent Over at the Arclight), Friday, 28 October 2005 19:45 (twenty years ago)

does anyone else think this is fake?

Christopher Costello (CGC), Friday, 28 October 2005 20:07 (twenty years ago)

and if it's real, it is, hands down, the worst thing the white stripes have done.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Friday, 28 October 2005 20:09 (twenty years ago)

Sounds real and I don't agree at all. Between the last two singles and this, it seems to me that they've been getting better.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 28 October 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

This was pretty cool. Thanks. Original's better. :D

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 28 October 2005 20:30 (twenty years ago)

The original sounds like Missing Persons, though.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 28 October 2005 20:32 (twenty years ago)

sounds weird, not the best cover of them. but i love jack white. and the guitar in this even better.

monalisaover, Saturday, 29 October 2005 00:26 (twenty years ago)

thanks for the ysi. i still am not into this song, though. one of the weakest from that album.

W i l l (common_person), Saturday, 29 October 2005 01:06 (twenty years ago)

Needs more bass.

rogermexico (rogermexico), Saturday, 29 October 2005 01:58 (twenty years ago)

This is definitely not a fake. Christopher Costello, I think maybe you just don't really like The White Stripes... and that's fine.

The drums on the original were pretty simple and straight forward and seem well suited for Meg's abilities. Could use more bass, but then again, so could The White Stripes in general, right?

Overall, I think this is a pretty solid cover. WWAG is one of the better tracks off the new T&S record, so if you don't like it then you probably just don't like them... which is fine.

nancyboy (nancyboy), Saturday, 29 October 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

They played this when I saw them a month ago, I'm so glad to have a studio recording! Thanks.

Get Behind Me Satan is definitely my favorite White Stripes LP, by the way. So underrated.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Saturday, 29 October 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

i really like the white stripes. i saw them last month in atlantic city and it rocked, but this just seems a bit weak to me.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Saturday, 29 October 2005 19:43 (twenty years ago)

Could use more bass, but then again, so could The White Stripes in general, right?

aw no way!
