Nag! Nag! Nag! (Nag! Nag! Nag!), Saturday, 29 October 2005 05:47 (twenty years ago)

Form this band and call it The Vagsplosions and put us all on the list +1 for the debut gig.

If you play two copies of the Franz Ferdinand record that covers the Fire Engines, at the wrong speed, through a delay pedal, maybe you'd be getting there?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Saturday, 29 October 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)

Actually, Dan to get the Polvo part, you would have to pitchspeed your turntable up and down so that it would sound, um... detuned.

I'm not sure it's possible to really compare Durutti Column to anything, let alone something that combines with Fire Engines.

Next up: can someone recommend something that's kind of like Led Zeppelin and Belle & Sebastian all rolled up into one?

Bimble The Nimble, Jumped Over A Thimble! (Bimble...), Sunday, 30 October 2005 04:08 (twenty years ago)

the white stripes?

burn!, Sunday, 30 October 2005 07:26 (twenty years ago)

gareth which polvo record is good? i had shapes at one point and i thought it was bad.

geoff (gcannon), Sunday, 30 October 2005 07:54 (twenty years ago)

i dunno, i like This Eclipse, but i have a feeling thats not the consensus pick

terry lennox. (gareth), Sunday, 30 October 2005 08:37 (twenty years ago)

try Exploded Drawing. that's the one i feel is most consistent over the length of the album (that consistency being Polvo's problem, as far as i can tell).

Lee F# (fsharp), Sunday, 30 October 2005 11:17 (twenty years ago)

there might be some early his name is alive that would possibly bridge that.

hmm.... godzuki & free wade's collaboration EP sort of does that too.

if you take the firengines' hook-laden basslines & the d-column's wispiness, you could (with a great stretch) get tussle.

Dan Gr (certain), Sunday, 30 October 2005 19:30 (twenty years ago)

and dave longstreth's "my offwhite flag"

Dan Gr (certain), Sunday, 30 October 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

as a polvo fanboy, i can attest that today's active lifestyles album combined with the celebrate the new dark age EP, together constitute polvo's greatest work(s).

cutty (mcutt), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:16 (twenty years ago)

Mid-period My Bloody Valentine? That's the best I've got. Early Disco Inferno? Shit.

owen moorhead (i heart daniel miller), Monday, 31 October 2005 15:39 (twenty years ago)
