Did you see the Indigo Girls skit on SNL tonight? Course you did.

It was funny. Emily and Amy had moved to a mountaintop to harmonize and conduct a talk show.

My favorite part was when Amy Ray said "remember, if you are a woman with a full moustache, you have rights."

Good times. Though I have to wonder how much of SNL's audience is familiar enough with Indigo Girls to make it funny.

did you ever see that SNL skit where they made fun of Melt Banana?

I'm sure me and four other people got that skit. Apparently tina fey is quite the indie-rocker.

haha. that melt-banana shout-out was great.

I can't imagine what the Melt Banana shout out was. Please tell.

Given ex-members of the Rentals and Trenchmouth are in the cast, maybe Lorne Michaels is.

I thought it was a very strange basis for a sketch - it seemed like they had to force the bits with them playing Indigo Girls hits to get some recognition out of the audience. It wasn't horrible, but it was mostly just a string of "ain't feminists/butch lesbians HILARIOUS" jokes.

The Melt Banana sketch was in, like, 2001. It was a sketch with Horatio Sanz as intolerably enthusiastic VJ Ian Robinson. Fallon did his Daly.

Then the four girls on the show played this Japanese band called CRUSH PAPAYA, who would play a quick blast of screamy, obnoxious noise and then say very, very meekly and quietly "thanku"

Also, all the "lyrics" that were shown on the bottom of the screen were Melt-Banana song titles.

The sketch described in the question sounds fucking horrible.

This skit was mind-bendingly funny!
