Where do you put them in your cd collection?.
do you put them under the first band listed?.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Sunday, 30 October 2005 17:36 (twenty years ago)

Buy them twice.

StanM (StanM), Sunday, 30 October 2005 17:44 (twenty years ago)

in their own section, before compilations. or integrated with compilations of the appropriate genre.

Special Agent Dale Koopa (orion), Sunday, 30 October 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

The problem is not with Split EP's.

danski (danski), Sunday, 30 October 2005 17:52 (twenty years ago)

File it under the one you're more likely to listen to. The whole point of alphabetizing a CD collection is to think of an artist name and look for that name.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:13 (twenty years ago)

yeah, most of the time you only bought it because of one of the bands, so file it in with that one's other records.

Al (sitcom), Sunday, 30 October 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

File them the same way you file your split albums! That's what I do!

xhuxk, Sunday, 30 October 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

That's like asking which side of a double a-side do you play first? There is no right answer, it's entirely subjective.

naus (Robert T), Monday, 31 October 2005 02:47 (twenty years ago)

Where does 'The Harder They Come' soundtrack go in your collection?

poortheatre (poortheatre), Monday, 31 October 2005 04:49 (twenty years ago)

i put those under v, for various artists.

andy dale awesome (andy dale), Monday, 31 October 2005 09:07 (twenty years ago)

I used to store splits under the 1st artist alphabetically, back when I only had a couple of them, so Faith/Void/Faith CD would be under Faith, even though I mainly listened to the Void songs. Now I keep them with compilations, which are all mixed up randomly at the moment.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Monday, 31 October 2005 11:55 (twenty years ago)

"The whole point of alphabetizing a CD collection is to think of an artist name and look for that name."

I thought the point was to to try to satisfy a gnawing, creeping hunger for order and meaning in a hostile universe. That's why I do it.

mte22 (mte22), Monday, 31 October 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

I stand corrected.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Monday, 31 October 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

It doesn't really work.

mte22 (mte22), Monday, 31 October 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

The only one I have is the Dismemberment Plan and Juno one, which, as I have no Juno and don't like Juno, is under D.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Monday, 31 October 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I put that one under D, too.

Hardest one lately was *The King of Crunk presents Lil Scrappy and Trillville*. I can never remember whether I put that in the K's, the L's, the T's, or compilations. (Maybe I should just get rid of it?)

xhuxk, Monday, 31 October 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

yeah, most of the time you only bought it because of one of the bands, so file it in with that one's other records.

Buy better splits.

Special Agent Dale Koopa (orion), Monday, 31 October 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

where do you put collaborations?
e.g. the whole In the Fishtank series?

bobby.lasers, Monday, 31 October 2005 23:03 (twenty years ago)

You put those by number in their own subsection of V/A

jdubz (ex machina), Monday, 31 October 2005 23:15 (twenty years ago)

don't buy them, they're hardly ever good

sexyDancer (sexyDancer), Monday, 31 October 2005 23:30 (twenty years ago)

What about Desert Sessions? Is that the name of a band, or what?

And do the John Cougar albums go under a different letter of the alphabet than the John Cougar Mellencamp ones?
