Vapourspace's Themes from Vapourspace is the first record to spring to mind.

Underground Resistance. You know 'Jupiter Jazz', 'Inspiration', 'Final Frontier', etc etc.
Obviously Red Planet. esp. 'Star Dancer' and 'Journey to the Motherfucking Martian Polar Cap'.
Oh yeah, Model 500 Deep Space.

Air Liquide has some stuff that might interest you, though most of it is pretty hard to categorize under any genre banner. You could check "Chromoplastic", "If There Was No Gravity" and "Stratus Static" for starters.

More recommendations:

Paul van Dyk: "Pump This Universe"
Exit EEE: "Straight up from Heaven"
F.E.O.S. vs M/S/O: "Music Was Sent (D Droid)"
Phasis: "Moonwalk"

the same answer I always give to this thread: Model 500 'starlight' http://www.discogs.com/release/1688

Probably the best way to get it is on the tresor IV compilation:
http://www.discogs.com/release/734

which also is chock full of spacey house/techno, and comes with a pretty cool mix cd to boot.

i think the balance 005 mix by james holden is very spacey.

is the stuff listed above in the same vein as gill norris' 'forme', or ficta's 'eli'?

Skatebård evokes the best of Giorgio Moroder, Prins Thomas, winter sunsets, snow crunching under foot, and Lindströmisms ******

This item will be released on October 27th, 2008

NORWEGIAN FJORD-ITALO ***** Norway’s dance music scene is no secret to the world – from the Balearic Nu-Disco bliss proved by Lindstrom and Prins Thomas, the bubble-gum Italo-pop of Annie and hit-makers Royksopp, there’s something about those long winter nights that’s brought forth a fury of creativity over the years – much of it spurred by the legendary Tellé record label. It was here that Bergen’s Skatebård emerged as a force to be reckoned with thanks to his 2002 debut “Skateboarding Was A Crime (in 1989)” – a record that rocked the underground with it’s unique fusion of Italo-Disco and House…since then he’s gone on to release a steady stream of singles on Keys Of Life, Sex Tags Mania, Radius Records, Supersoul Recordings and of course his own imprint Digitalo Enterprises.

Many recall the 2006 full length debut “Midnight Magic” which brought Skatebård to a larger audience thanks to the massive press/radio support it spewed – well due it was with it’s emotional grace and pop- ish sensibilities which brought the listener to refreshing new angles on the then quite dormant state of Italo-disco and house music…the last two years have brought on a whole new wave of interest in the music Skatebård has played a crucial role in re-establishing. Now he brings forth his follow-up full length, appropriately titled “Cosmos”…

We’re stunned with what Skatebård has come up with…simply put, it’s the best music he’s ever produced. Starting off with the sleeper classic (previously released on Radius) “Vuelo”, Skatebård settles in with an emotive dance crooner that sways the listener into a synthetic landscape - optimal for where we’re heading. From the darkish electro- fied “Kosmos”, the classic ‘90’s house infected house breaker ”React To The Rhythm” and the Italo stormer “Into The Crypt Of Rays”, once again, Skatebård demonstrates his diversity as a producer and outlines new horizons for the best in timeless classic house and electro.

June Nights South Of Siena

hell yeah

They're a '90s odd couple. And an odds-on choice for laughs. (blueski), Thursday, 2 October 2008 11:49 (seventeen years ago)
