I can¡¯t even try to front right now, though: I¡¯m really, really geeked about Bonde Do Role. Their style of baile/favela/carioca/whatever is so totally American-influenced that it¡¯s a lot easier to digest than standard Rio fare for a simpleton like myself. I don¡¯t wanna spoil the surprises, but their other tracks have samples just as recognizable and even more fun.
As I mentioned the other day, the group ¡ª made up of MCs Jac¨®, Escher (ha!) and Ribanceira ¡ª will have their Melo Do Tabaco EP issued as the first release from Mad Decent*, the label created by DJ and film buff, Diplododocus. This is the first time that any of the final tracks from the EP have seen the pale blue light of the intertron, and the 12¡å itself won¡¯t be issued until next month (and it¡¯ll be n a limited manner, even then) but you can try to cop it over at the Lab**. Further down the line, there¡¯ll be remixes from Mr. ¡®Plo and Brucker & Sinden¡ but more on that when the time draws near.
For now, just enjoy this summer lovin¡¯ in the midst of cold-ass winter.
