I was shocked to find, upon receiving this in the post today, that the CD comes with three light cardboard cards in the CD case. Each one has an X on it, in a different colour, with a different coloured background.
None of these three cards are what you see in the picture above. Two of them are exact opposites colour-wise, these X cards, but the third is in two very different, curiously contrasting colours. Well I know Wire were pretty much all art school grads were they not? But I can only count on a few fingers the times when art has affected me to the point that it did when I found these three cards in this CD and noticed their colours. I have not played the CD yet actually. I am spellbound by the three CD sleeve sized cards.
For each of them remind me of the Confederate flag of the southern U.S., only they all shun those particular colours. The effect is entirely transcendent, and quite brilliant. Who knows why some art affects one as it does? I can't say.
