possibly the finest mix in the pile right now

- out in various parts of the world (not uk yet) via tiger sushi, all being well.

morpheus has obviously been scouring my late 80's playlist as several of the 16 tracks would end up on my all time fave mixtape (wde/tpe/aoc of course !), the shriekback mix is just fantastic.

jeff and jane hudson - los alamos
the residents - kaw-liga (moody boys remix)
virgin prunes - pagan lovesong
medioum medium - hungry, so angry
love and rockets - ball of confusion (7" mix)
heaven 17 - we dont need this fascist groove thang
shriekback - accerations (monstrous dance mix)
that petrol emotion - dance your ass off
head - i can't stop (mental metal mix)
world domination enterprises - i can live without my radio
timezone - world destruction
age of chance - kiss
the thrill kill kult - the devil does drugs
taboo - number 6
400 blows vs 23 skidoo - g.i (joakim edit)
einsturzende neubauten - yu-gung (a sherwood mix)

it looks like how my dj sets sounded circa 1987, except for the head and taboo tracks which i don't know.

exactly .. tis time for someone to revive this stuff - sounds great.

the head track is typically dated, but its a lot of fun. i recall there being a lot of love for Head - yet i actually recall very little about the band.

i should havebeen a little more clear - this is actually a compilation - not mixed together.

where is this out? i know it was due out around a 18 year ago but tigersushi tend to be REALLY slow at getting stuff out. i really want to hear the joakim edit of 23 skidoo vs. 400 blows. the 23 skidoo original is an all time fave but the 400 blows remix is horribly dated. i wonder if joakim has breathed some new life into it?

stirmonster (stirmonster), Monday, 16 January 2006 18:26 (twenty years ago)

yeah - samy/dj morpheus has told me that tiger sushi are having problems at the moment (joakims partner @ tiger sushi- charles) has left and so things are somethat chaotic
.. but apparently this should be available in feb/march - but not in uk. grrr.

mark e (mark e), Monday, 16 January 2006 18:37 (twenty years ago)

my earlier post should have read '18 months to a year'. yes i had heard charles was leaving. i know there is a lot of good tigersushi stuff in the works. i just hope it gets to see the light of day and reaches the uk!

It's already out in the US, if Amazon is any indication- and with the dollar being so weak against the pound right now you could probably get it for quite cheap, even with transatlantic shipping. Cheapest I could find from a quick search was $15 at Forced Exposure, but ebay and/or Amazon marketplace probably have it cheaper.

Also, DJ Morpheus is the guy from Minimal Compact, right?

Samy Birnbach, yes. i hope this one is as good as Phax 'n' Phixion and In My Bag.

echoinggrove (echoinggrove), Monday, 16 January 2006 19:22 (twenty years ago)

and Gruesome Twosome of course .. ahhh what a classic new beat track that was

eight months pass...
just received word that this compilation is to be released UK at end of the month.

tigersushi are getting it sorted at last, but infortunately, this release will not get much promo, so few folks are going to actually know about it, unless you read ilm of course.

There's a new 12" by Morpheus and Joakim coming out too.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 5 October 2006 16:18 (nineteen years ago)
