Uh, their names?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 January 2006 04:41 (twenty years ago)

Harry & The Potters and Draco & The Malfoys

Saw Harry and the Potters playing a library packed with screaming 13 year old girls. Fun show although I think they had more good song ideas then good songs. The line for merch was truly impressive though.

I think Harry and the Potters are from these parts (Boston) and I keep on hearing good things about their shows, but haven't bothered to make it out to one yet.

Does this mean that the first album will be ok, quite poppy, the second the same but a bit of a letdown, the third much improved as the mood gets a whole lot darker, before the rest are monstrously bloated and unedited tracts that you listen all through once and can never be bothered to go back to again?

six months pass...
Harry and the Potters. How fun are these guys?! I didn't want to hear them - the whole idea seemed pretty dodgy - but I'm so glad I did.

"Rockin' out is the kind of thing Voldemort hates! So thanks for coming out tonight to help us fight Voldemort and the EVIL and DARKNESS." Hah. Brilliant! Their entire schtick is basically Jack Black in School of Rock in a Harry Potter themed band.

Are they signed anywhere yet?

Wait, nobody's interested in what Draco & the Malfoys sounded like?!

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Monday, 7 August 2006 13:24 (nineteen years ago)

Probably like Rialto.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 August 2006 13:26 (nineteen years ago)

See, in my head they sound like a cross between My Chemical Romance and early Roxy Music, and it's AWESOME. Someone, please disabuse me of that notion.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Monday, 7 August 2006 13:53 (nineteen years ago)

haha that's kinda what I think they sound like too.

Although:

We tend to wear our influences right on our sleeve, so here's some of the bands our songs remind us of, to give you an idea what they sound like...

I Couldn't Kill Albus Dumbledore has the feel of a Violent Femmes song.
Hippogriffs Deserve To Die has some White Stripes resemblance.
In Which I Kick Harry Potter In The Face sounds a bit like Oasis.
99 Death Eaters is a parody of a song with a very similar title- enough of a hint? :)

"In Which I Kick Harry Potter In the Face" is quite possibly the best song title ever. Too bad it sounds like Oasis.

(not that I've actually heard anything by them and they could totally still sound like My Chem Romance and Roxy Music!)

Roz (Roz), Monday, 7 August 2006 14:03 (nineteen years ago)

I hope it's an O'Jays parody though I know it ain't

Would this be Nena? Or Jay-Z? OR AN AMAZING COMBINATION OF THE TWO?
