Nineties slow jams.

I'm DJing at a nineties theme party next month, and while I have enough nineties dance tunes already, I'd love to play some slow jams too, and I'm kinda lacking in those. So can you refresh my memory and recommend some good slow songs of the nineties? Preferably ones that people will recognize. Thanks!

On the subject, if anyone has "Kiss from a Rose" by Seal and would like to YSI it, I'd be extremely grateful.

I can't remember either of those, I'm not sure if they were hits in Finland. But I'll check them out! Meanwhile, more recommendations please.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 14:21 (twenty years ago)

freak me, by silk. i'd imagine anythin by silk would be a slow jam, but i'm not sure.

AaronK (AaronK), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 14:25 (twenty years ago)

On the Keith Sweat tip, don't forget "Twisted" and "Nobody.". Then you have Jodeci with "Forever My Lady," "Come and Talk To Me," and of course "Lately." For the later 90's, you've got the downsized Jodeci of K-Ci and Jo-Jo with "All My Life" and "Tell Me It's Real" (both monster jams). You've always got the Boyz II Men stuff, but nobody wants to hear that. And then you can go with the accapella panty/boxer thrower of Shai's "If I Ever Fall In Love." What about Silk's "Freak Me" or Xscape's "Just Kick It" or SWV's trio of "Weak," "Downtown," and "I'm So Into You" or Next's "Too Close" or TLC's "Creep." I've got lots more in the mental que if you need them. Dang! And I thought I was an Indie Rocker in the 90's. Good songs and good memories.

matt2 (matt2), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 14:28 (twenty years ago)

must have been a hit in even finland, but it's not my favorite

"one Sweet day" by Mariah and BoyzIIMen is a monumental jam, but maybe not the best to make lurve to, as its about, y'know, death and dying…

veronica moser (veronica moser), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 14:42 (twenty years ago)

For a couple that just slipped into the 90's try Ralph Tresvant's "Sensitivity" and Johnny Gill's "My My My." On the middle school love tip there is Tevin Campbell's "Can We Talk" and "I'm Ready." And for the real sappy goodness, don't forget Mint Condition's "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)" or Hi-Five's "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)." What about MokenStef's "He's Mine" or H-Towns "Knockin' Da Boots." Any of these helping?

matt2 is on fire. I was gonna take exception to the Boyz II Men dig but looking up their ballads, everything listed on this thread is way better(and I'm still partial to cooleyhighharmony but none of the good songs fit the description here).

Yeah, I'm not sure if that can really be considered a victory, huh?

Another one not to forget is "Make It Hot" by Nicole featuring Missy Elliott (damn I loved that song and where did Nicole go anyway?).

Another one not to forget is "Make It Hot" by Nicole featuring Missy Elliott (damn I loved that song and where did Nicole go anyway?).

About a year ago she had a single "If I Was Your Girlfriend" (not the Prince song) and was signed to Dame Dash's post-Roc lable, but nothing's come of it.
