Does anybody know if/how I can rip pre Track 1 "hidden" songs from a cd? I use windows XP and none of the players/rippers I have cant even play / access the track as far as I can tell. I've tried Windows Media Player, iTunes, Easy CD-DA Extractor, Nero.

I don't even know how they program these things to do that. The best that I could do is record the song in real time into Pro Tools or something.

if you want to rip it without recording it live you may need to alter the hardware drivers to ignore the disc's table of contents, or at least so that you can set the read point manually.

ExactAudioCopy is really good for odd sorts of things like this.

However, the particular thing you are trying to do is going to depend on your cd drive as well. Most drives don't support extracting into the negative time that is needed to capture these tracks. (I speak from having tried this on numerous drives.)

hydrogenaudio forums can probably recommend some nice drives that would do the trick

Haha, on the Plunderphonics two-disc set he actually talks about how nice it is that his weird sequencing tricks make it nigh-impossible to rip a Plunderphonics CD to MP3 in anything close to its original form.

That set is whack anyway, because the second disc start with track 23 or something. Throws a lot of cdplayers and computers off.

Exact Audio Copy and Feurio can do it on separate tracks. Nero can also do it but only if you copy the whole disc (through a disc image).

A number of drives are not able to write these "hidden" tracks (ie, audio in the pregap of track 1), but I haven't heard of any drive unable to *read* them.
