gig times at Webster Hall (NYC)

I'm going to Broken Social Scene @ Webster Hall tomw night, my first time there for a show (since it was the Ritz, anyway). My ticket says "doors 6pm," and that's how a lot of their shows are listed. Do the bands REALLY go on at 7 or 8, then?

someone needs to create a chart with translation times for actual show starts.

I've found at Bowery and Merc (same mgmt i believe?) that adding +1 hour usually gets you in just as the act you want to see starts to finish setting up.

The formula that I've used for Bowery Ballroom/Webster Hall that seems to work pretty well is this: add one hour to the door time to get the time the first band will go on. Add one hour for each opening band to get to the start time of the band you're interested in. However, even allowing that much time you will still often have to sit through an opening band or two.

(The other trick is if you call the club, they will usually tell you when the bands are actually scheduled to go on.)

i usually don't mind opening acts (even when they suck they're kinda fascinating to watch), but my patience with audiences is wearing thin. i like to be around chattering indie nitwits as little as possible. (cue entirety of ilx going "so why do you post here?")

I'm going to the same show...and my Will-Call confirmed email says that the doors are at 7:30....do you know if there's an opening act?

I don't know if there's an opener. You must be going tonight -- the Bowerypresents page says 6:00 for doors on Fri/Sat, 7:30 tonight.

Webster is so so early. 2 months ago I went to a Saturday show there that said doors at 8. I got there at 9:40 because of work and the opener was done and it was already 25 minutes into the headliner's set.
