would like to

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Saturday, 28 January 2006 13:14 (twenty years ago)

I guess what I'm asking is, if you (or someone associated with you) were thinking of booking them, would you then go ahead and book them, having seen and enjoyed them in the past.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 28 January 2006 13:15 (twenty years ago)

wait, you're thinking of booking Booka Shade? Perhaps somewhere shady?

ziti sanskrit (sanskrit), Saturday, 28 January 2006 13:33 (twenty years ago)

well, if you had seen them and enjoyed them in the past, then why not?

stirmonster (stirmonster), Saturday, 28 January 2006 13:36 (twenty years ago)

Saw them last year at Innercity festival and was pleasantly surprised. Would definitely book them on a minimal type night. Profile has grown considerably. Don't forget to buy some mandarines for them to pass out during the encore..

DjSandeman, Saturday, 28 January 2006 13:46 (twenty years ago)

Oh I haven't seen them myself, I guess I was looking to see if others had.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 28 January 2006 14:44 (twenty years ago)

saw them at the fabric birthday party last october - they were ace.

The Lex (The Lex), Saturday, 28 January 2006 15:07 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 14:26 (nineteen years ago)

kv_nol, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 15:03 (nineteen years ago)

i have these two friends who are totally peeing themselves over their April show in New York. they got really mad when i called them a bunch of pleb-house loving bitches.

What a heart-warming tale.

kv_nol, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 16:36 (nineteen years ago)

xpost. But you loves you some Bodzin! Electrance-plebinimal!

jim, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 16:41 (nineteen years ago)

can we call it prole-house instead?

lfam, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 20:51 (nineteen years ago)

Prole-house: all things to all men.

jim, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:17 (nineteen years ago)

a propos, aren't they +/- shadow(y!) producers for a half a dozen noted electrohouse acts?

blunt, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:23 (nineteen years ago)

Speaking as someone who only has & needs their 1st release from '95? S'aight.

blunt, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:24 (nineteen years ago)

little house of the proles...

Ronan, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:30 (nineteen years ago)

'a propos, aren't they +/- shadow(y!) producers for a half a dozen noted electrohouse acts?"

Not so much anymore really. Both Chelonis Jones and DJ T are producing themselves now I think, while M.A.N.D.Y.'s release schedule has radically slowed down and Sunsetpeople have only released, like, three 12 inches.

Funny that Bodzin is the pleb comparison point in this thread because he's really taken over the "noted shadow producer" role in the past two years or so.

Tim F, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 03:22 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, i can't take their Madonna headgear too seriously. also, haven't we heard Mandarine Girl and Darko enough by now? i mean ... maybe a DJ set. i've seen them twice and i'm totally indifferent on every level.

Cameron Octigan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 03:26 (nineteen years ago)

think they're playing melbourne in late march, hurrah.

haitch, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 03:44 (nineteen years ago)

Oh gimme a break, Bodzin beats the shit out of Booka any day. The 'Everything Counts' remix alone is better than anything on Movements.

the table is the table, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 03:57 (nineteen years ago)

"In White Rooms" > "Pong Pang" > "Mandarine Girl (Album Version)" > "Everything Counts (Bodzin & Huntemann Remix)" > most of the rest of Movements > a good half of Bodzin's output of the last two years

Tim F, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 04:07 (nineteen years ago)

agree to disagree there.... i give you In White Rooms. otherwise, no dice. Pong Pang can sucky sucky.

the table is the table, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 04:09 (nineteen years ago)

Friday was unbelievably shit. Not the band, they were fine when they finally came on at half one! The tickets and door all said that it began at eleven so swanning in at half eleven we figured that twelve or so would be likely. Instead we were treated to B0dyt0nic resident DJs playing mediochre (except the last guy just before the band, he was v good!) dance until the band came on. By then we were so fucked off nobody could face sticking around so we were all gone by two. Lessons learned? 1) don't go to this kind of gig organised by B0dyt0nic again or go really late 2) be drunk, waiting seems much longer when you're sober! Book Shade were alright, nothing spectacular but yeah, it is fun seeing a drummer actually create the beats instead of someone with a laptop.

kv_nol, Monday, 5 March 2007 10:25 (nineteen years ago)

Turns out they only played 55 minutes which is a bit shit really.
