what does everybody think about the latest ferenc record? i mean, it is sort of predictable and very tame, unlike most of the other music i've been into for a while, but i still really enjoy it and keep coming back to it. it's so cold and smooth, more than almost anything else i know. maybe alex under would sound the same if he was mixed differently.

I think it's one of the top three Kompakt albums EVER (Total, Speicher etc not included) - and the best one they put out last year. I mean, even though Kozes and Aguayos were great, it's the Ferenc I keep coming back to, that I always bring with me in my Ipod and so on.

Wow, this thread didn't get much love.

the beats sound so much more organic to me than a lot of kompakt... i realized that's what's been turning me off to them

xpost

sadly

France has some sort of breakbeat thing going on if I remember correctly, I wasn't too keen on that.

The track Neng was really good. And not just for the name. The things a bit frontloaded I think.

i don't think france is the track you're thinking of for the breakbeat

maybe nitsa is 11

a name means a lot just by itself (lfam), Friday, 10 November 2006 03:09 (nineteen years ago)

i thought it was frontloaded for a while but then i realized that nitsa is 11 > urdangarin resistance > france was meant to flow together and it was brilliant

it just takes a lot of listens to reveal itself so it's hard to get all the way through at first.

Just searched on my FUBAR. Definite breakbeat on France!

I find myself a bit ambivalent about the album. The production is kind of like a warm bath. You're immersed in all this reverby frothiness. Which is nice at times. But sometimes I feel like I'd like more space in there. i.e. not minimal enough!

struttin' with some barbecue (jimnaseum), Friday, 10 November 2006 03:18 (nineteen years ago)

ah, you are right, when i skipped through it to check i missed all the breaky sections (shows how well i know it, i guess).

a warm bath! just the right amount of reverb for me!

I am going to download 'France' right now. Diplodocus is a lovely track as well, and Sandia is a serious banger, the rest, I haven't really heard.

it looks like Alice on the pic.

(super pervy?)
