What do you want to know about said album covers. You just want us to tell you about them in general?

I can't see the pictures people are posting, so I don't know if these are already above, but three of the four Microdisney LPs feature London (Everybody Is Fantastic, The Clock Comes Down The Stairs, 39 Minutes, the latter being the inside of Liverpool Street station).

There are a bunch of "in London" LPs: Sonny Boy Williamson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Count Basie, Mighty Sparrow come to mind. These folks don't generally pass up the opportunity to have their photo taken by some famous landmark or other. The best, I think, Is "Jackie Mittoo in London". It's an amazingly good LP, too.

"Fishcotheque" by the Jazz Butcher has a picture of a famous chip shop by Waterloo Station. "The House of Love" LP sometimes called "Camberwell Beauty" has a picture of an butterfly which can be seen on the side of an old-school gym in Camberwell. But if you want that level of detail, rather than recognisable London, there are about a bazillion.

is that really archway tavern? i'd never thought about it before

But if you want that level of detail

ohhhh tim!

of course i do

i think one for each postcode would be, shall we say, magnifique

terry lennox. (gareth), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 11:24 (twenty years ago)

... it is, but it doesn't look like that anymore. Apparently Ray and Dave Davies' dad was a regular and they all used to go down there for a pint until, according to Ray, some Republican band played and burned a Union Jack, something like that anyway

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 1 February 2006 11:36 (twenty years ago)

One per postcode would be aces, I agree, but hard to achieve. I'll give the SE ones some thought, but I don't fancy my chances (for a start, would I recognise SE4 if I saw it? Probably not.)

Did anyone establish clearly where the blocks on the front of the first Streets LP are? I've heard it suggested that they're those ones between Angel and Old Street but I'm not sure.

I can't see the image, but if it's "The Bridge" by Robert Rental then yes it is (it's the Albert Bridge, West London).
