Hydra Head... Crucial Blast... Robotic Empire... Level Plane...
It seems to be a good time for indie labels that are serving up music that is heavy but also atypical and often challenging (not always to play but usually to listen to). In many ways it reminds me of the early '80s when all of the then-burgeoning metal indies were buzzing with creativity and putting out amazing records from bands whose common link was a love for Motorhead and whose best promotional tools were relentless touring and tape tra... er, music downloading. Makes me proud to be a metalhead again...
I can't help but wonder which label(s) and act(s) have the best shot at attaining larger audiences and inspiring a whole new generation of fans with silly haircuts to illogically start screaming "I liked their early stuff better." That is if any of them will. Anyone got a crystal ball?
