OH GOD NO
A TELEVISED nationwide search for a rousing soccer anthem will begin soon on SBS.
Before Australia's appearance in the World Cup in Germany this year, a seven-part series, tentatively titled A Song For The Socceroos, will comb the country for a "pop-rock classic" to inspire the team to victory. "We're putting out the call for songwriters," an SBS spokesman said yesterday.

Most people hate the Embrace track as it's a woeful dirge, and this has caused dozens of bands to create their own songs which they feel are more appropriate.. and fun.
My favourite is The Terraces, "Wunderbar, Engerland!" it's a cover (of sorts!) of the old Ten Pole Tudor track, Wunderbar.
Their spiel goes ....The Terraces have recorded their Footie Anthem for the 2006 World Cup - Wunderbar En-ger-land! A thumping, rabble-rousing Berlin beer-stomper of a tune! Check out their promo video...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIADp5oNOm8
