I need a good 5.1 setup at a reasonable price.

well, i don't really "NEED" a good 5.1 setup at a reasonable price. but i sure as hell would like to have one. i know absolutely nothing about this type of stuff, so....guide me.

Yeah, 5.1 sux sound quality wise... see the Vinyl Anachronist columns at Perfect Sound Forever. Good speaker placement will help more.

If you want 5.1 for DVDs the headphones sound like an OK idea.

i just found out that my tv has a something called "icredible surround"....

It was called Q-sound in the 80s, I think shortly afterward it was determined that linear stereo audio is a crock.
