Have you ever seen translations of their lyrics from Icelandic to English? I mean, that's probably unfair to do to a band, but really..they're awful. The fact that I cant understand them while listening to them adds a little to the magic of the experience.

Translation:
YOU SADDLE ON THE FIRE
YOU SOFA

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 12 February 2006 22:45 (twenty years ago)

translation would probably be something like this:

YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF SUCKERS
FOR LISTENING TO CRAP LIKE THIS
AND GIVING US YOUR MONEY
WE'RE LAUGHING AT YOU
ALL THE WAY TO OUR BANK IN REYKJAVIK
AND OH YEAH ...
WE ALL HAD OUR WAY WITH BJORK LAST NIGHT
WITH YOUR MONEY!

WHOA LOOK DUDE A FJORD
OH SHIT THERE IS A WHALE
THE WHALE SINGS OF PEACE (ALSO FJORDS)
GLACIERS, UM, DID WE MENTION FJORDS ALREADY

Little-known fact: Icelandic has over 500 different words for "pixie."

Yeah, we get it, Eisbar!

all their songs are just prodigy's "firestarter" played really slow at slightly different tempos in each song and in icelandic

This thread would be better as "BANDS WHO WOULD BE HUGELY IMPROVED BY SINGING IN HOPELANDIC".

Uhm, that Eisbar link made me like him, actually. Hi, Eisbar. I like you.

On our way to England
On our way to England
We wear our helmets with horns on them
We drink our Mjöd.
Once we get to England
We'll rape and pillage and plunder
we'll rape and pillage and plunder
And then we will go home
Long live Thor and Odin
Long live Thor and Odin

There's so much that's wrong with this thread that addressing everything would be impossible, but Geir, for God's sake, Thor and Odin are Norse mythology..

Harrison Barr (Petar), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 03:37 (twenty years ago)

Uhm, that Eisbar link made me like him, actually. Hi, Eisbar. I like you.

Yeah, no slight on Eisbar intended, no liking or disliking posited. Just saying I acknowledge his visceral loathing of Sigur Ros and his propensity for announcing this all over ILM, which he's entitled to do!

David A. (Davant), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 04:14 (twenty years ago)

...but Geir, for God's sake, Thor and Odin are Norse mythology..

And the pre-Christian religion of Iceland was indeed Norse.

you fucking nerds

gary, Tuesday, 14 February 2006 04:55 (twenty years ago)

I kinda stopped liking Sigur Ros when I found out that Tommy Lee likes to make love to Agaetis Byrjun.

And the pre-Christian religion of Iceland was indeed Norse.

As a matter of fact, Iceland stood by Thor and Odin somewhat longer than Norway, and there were even some cases of refugees from Norway to Iceland because they didn't want to believe in this boring Jesus Christ guy that the Norwegian authorities forces them to believe in, so they fled to Iceland instead.
