Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Friday, 17 February 2006 04:12 (twenty years ago)

I refuse to believe that "overproduction" exists.

Sunset Strippers version?

Cameron Octigan (Cameron Octigan), Friday, 17 February 2006 05:41 (twenty years ago)

Jenny Burton: IN BLACK AND WHITE. Magnificently overproduced, so damn great.

matt the queeg, Friday, 17 February 2006 05:46 (twenty years ago)

isn't the title of this thread at least half of ILM in a nutshell?

sovietpanda (sovietpanda), Friday, 17 February 2006 07:16 (twenty years ago)

I don't have guilty pleasures, I've always loved over-produced dance music. And I've never really liked the term "guilty pleasure" at all, because it sorta implies there's some sort of "proper" music taste, deviating from which will somehow make you feel guilty.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 17 February 2006 07:34 (twenty years ago)

#1 AUTHENTIC ILMER

youth problem (YouthProblem), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:23 (twenty years ago)

Weren't there two disco-house cutups of "Waiting For A Star To Fall", by two different acts?

Personal faves from the commercial (read "hooky, with like, vocals'n'stuff") dance canon:

"Do Your Thing" - Basement Jaxx
"It Just Won't Do" - Tim Deluxe
"Call On Me" - Eric Prydz
"There's Nothing I Won't Do" - JX
"Come With Me" - Special D.
"The Sign" - Sven-R-G versus Bass-T
"I Believe" - Happy Clappers
"Dancing With An Angel" - Double You featuring Alexia
"Mr. Vain" - Culture Beat
"Out Of The Blue" - System F.
"The Riddle" - Gigi D'agostino

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:45 (twenty years ago)

Magic Affair 'Give Me All Your Love'
Moby 'Move'
Westbam 'Celebration Generation'

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:52 (twenty years ago)

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:52 (twenty years ago)

shakedown - at night

i know that lame really (not the song, the fact im including it as a "guilty" pleasure)

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:53 (twenty years ago)

And BBE's 'Flash'.

I'd forgotten about this tune - good call!

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:58 (twenty years ago)

'Flash' is fairly minimal really though.

Way Out West 'The Fall'
that Hybrid one I always forget the name of
the track Plump DJs did with Gary Numan

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Friday, 17 February 2006 17:04 (twenty years ago)

Lukas (lukas), Friday, 17 February 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

I'd say CD1 of Jimmy Van M's Bedrock mix if I felt at all guilty about liking it.
