I know there are only about three Magnet fans but here you go anyway. Very sad, supposedly he'd been clean for over ten years. Guess he relapsed. Most do after all..

MONSTER MAGNET - Tour Cancelled - Official Statement

“ The battle with one’s inner demons is the most personal fight any of us can undertake. The fight is at times a lonely, confusing journey. On the evening of February 27, Dave Wyndorf suffered a set back in his own fight and was hospitalized due to a drug overdose. His full recovery is expected. We ask that all those he has encountered over the years or simply affected by his music to take a moment to think good thoughts of and for him. With the grace of God and those who love him we are all confident that Dave will rebound from this set back and continue to play and make great rock and roll.”

Bummer about the tour, but "full recovery expected" is a relief.

Yeeps. (A pity the press release is sentimental booshwa if well-meaning enough.)

I had no idea. I thought he was a Magma fan?

Thank you, your honor. With God's help he'll conquer this terrible affliction.

Yeah, this is bad news. Wyndorf is one of rock's greatest lyricists.

Holy crap. I was going to see them when they rolled into town next week. I saw them about two years ago at Rock City and they totally ruled. 15 minute 'Spine of God' as encore, the works. This is pretty awful, I hope it's not as serious as it sounds. Best wishes to him. May the Bullgod bring you back to full strength!

Ever since first hearing the "murder/tractor" single and hearing the first Ep on Glitterhouse I was hooked. Nothing in rock has ever sounded so dark and all out nihilistic and there are few bands that can tread water near Magnet (early mudhoney, stooges, loop). Stoner rock indeed. The scary stoners that you were always afraid of in jr high school...yeah these were the magnet kids and they all know a Lizard Johnny-you better run! "(screaming?) out on the street, I witnessed the birth of a freak...don't waste the drool Johnny!)

Dave Wyndorf will be ok...shit he's mostly clean...that's better than most of us!

I was wondering if there was a thread about this the other day. I practically grew up around the Monster Magnet guys, I was living a block away from them when they first signed to A&M. Dave was a smart, down-to-earth, and personable dude. He loved to mock his own cock-rock persona, and constantly encouraged my own meager musical endeavors.

On one hand, I hope he's ok; on the other, I know the guy's a rock n roll vampire, you just can't kill him. Back in his Shrapnel days he was hospitalized for mouthing off to some Boston bouncers; Monster Magnet was snubbed for years (too smart for metal, too dumb for alternative) before "Space Lord" took off. He just keeps on truckin' through the shit and the flowers.

The recent re-release of Spine of God seems to have slipped by unnoticed? High-ly recommended. The demo version of Ozium on it is great. Don't know why they never released the first two demo tapes on CD. They're widely bootlegged in crappy versions and some of the demo versions majorly stomp their studio counterparts (like "Ozium" and "Tab").
