Prins Thomas in London on Good Friday

Just read in Time Out that Prins Thomas is playing 'at a secret location' on Good Friday in London. Usually Time Out's secret locations mean diddly squat but can't seem to find anything.

Any leads?

P.S Can't wait for Gaiser Live on Sunday.

one year passes...

Is it true that Todd Terje and Prins Thomas are both in nyc but are only appearing on Wed night and Sunday afternoon respectively?

Terje was in SF on Sunday, and PT is here tomorrow night.

thanks to dominique's suggestion, i picked up a publication and found that terje is playing at the tribeca grand on saturday. do i want to go to that place?

i've been there for a few things. it wasn't terrible. nice soundsystem. i found a hundred dollar bill on the ground.

man, what a disappointment :(

we kept saying, "norway? more like boreway". he started off playing rare groove jazz (which put the lady to sleep) and then got into more techy, housey stuff. i left at 1.30. i wish it wasn't on a thursday and i wish they hadn't kept that "secret" room open. everyone was in there to talk. if it were more crowded, i bet people would have been into it more. my favorite people were the older sweaty headed bald guy in the white jump suit and the one girl with the dress and boots dancing double time from her boyfriend.

i absolutely loved it. thomas wanted to play all night, but he compromised and was going to play 12-4am. which is super-tough on a thursday in the first place. the place was not very full (although there were moments when every single person in the place was on the dancefloor) but i thought the music was *exceptional*. they ended up shutting it down at 2 because a lot of folks split after 1. a shame, but i can totally understand. apparently he just got in from hawaii where he played a 12 hour set with harvey. when they shut the party down at 2 thomas nearly refused to quit, saying later that he was "just getting started", which i totally believe. i ended up staying there til 2.45 just chilling in the booth while he played tunes just for us. we eventually were the last few people to leave the club, including the staff...he really didn't want to quit! i am henceforth dedicated to bringing him back in the new year - he's apparently going back to hawaii which will make a stop in SF possible. i'm definitely looking for a space to do something like a saturday/sunday all-dayer, with thomas playing the 12-hour set he originally wanted to play...keep your ears open.

but all in all i had a fucking blast! tunes, tunes, tunes!

oh and big ups to the white jumpsuit guy (who stripped down to just briefs, matching socks and shoes and was made to re-robe 10 minutes later, which i thought was hella lame) and the guy with the giant parrot on his shoulder, who eventually let it roost on thomas' shoulder (painfully):

we had fun w/ him in hawaii.

the party suffered from some poor/misdirected promotion (not to mention a fashion show), which is unfortunate because he really played a nice set and a lot of new faces turned out to see him. i left around 1am because i was in the middle of a killer work week and needed to be back at work by 6am the same morning, but i heard he played till 8am. Harvey wasn't in town, unfortunatley.

thomas is a really great guy and i really hope he comes back. my friend said he wasn't really interested in any sightseeing or beach going, he was just wanted to get to some record stores and dig for hours on end. :D

mike, i can see you enjoying it more than me. i just wanna hear disco :-/

jaxon, Friday, 31 August 2007 23:11 (sixteen years ago) link

he did play Dynasty's "Adventures in the Land of Music" which i love though.

jaxon, Friday, 31 August 2007 23:12 (sixteen years ago) link

you're right about that 'secret' room though, that should have been closed with so few people in the place. i was joking all night that that was the last time there would be decent music *and* a decent crowd there at the same time. i predict yr avg. young, moneyed SF clubbers infecting that place ASAP.

i went to the opening of the restaurant upstairs Prana maybe 6 months to a year ago and it was the worst thing ever. fancy indian food. shitty crowd. tacky all white everywhere. that place was never good.

thirteen years pass...

nice, meandering, beardy 6hr mix from Prins (admittedly I'm only a half hour in, he might go full-on acid bangers later):

eleven months pass...

One month after 8 comes 9, and it's so lush and gorgeous

willem, Saturday, 26 March 2022 09:52 (two years ago) link

Yeah love both, especially 8. Happy he's found a solid balance of lush and groove on this, seems like it's been one or the other on recent releases and collabs.
