I already know ILM will hate this but thoughts? I'm getting it now so I have yet to hear it.

Like the single (Bang Bang you're dead) but not sure how keen on the album I'll be. It does seem to be a lot poppier and happy than I expected. Yay for meds!

The single I mean. As to album, see above...

The album is surprisingly good. Being somewhat privy to the formation/writing, it took a very long time for them to nut out just a handful of songs, but they've managed to turn around a full album in the space of 4-5 months over two recording sessions. Much better than either of the Libertines albums, and definitely a catchy/singalong record. I'd love to hate it, but i can't.

"You Fucking Love It" is a great < 2mins song.

I fucking LOVE this record. "You Fucking Love It" is my anthem of the moment. Also classic are "Blood Thirsty Bastards" and "Deadwood".

I don't know if it's better than "Up the Bracket" yet, but it's a fuck of a lot better than Babyshambles, I'll tell you that much.

'You Fucking Love It' is their take on Blur's 'Bank Holiday'.

I refuse to hear this.

Not because I'm afraid I'll like it, but because I'm afraid it will be RUBBITCH and it will destroy my illusion of Carlos being the talented one held back by Crack Patch Kid's fuckwittery.

Poor boy has been hittin' the pies in his Guardian photos, though. Awww.

I liked the first side but the second side is no better than Babyshambles efforts.

What about "you Fucking Love It" and "The Enemy" ? Those are both good tunes on the second half.

And Henrietta, give it a listen. It reminds me of why I liked Barat so much to begin with.

one year passes...

I'm not really getting into this album. It seems to confirm my suspicion that Pete was the very talented, immensely poetic brain behind the best Libertines songs. And dammit, I still feel that their hype overshadowed the fact that their first album was one of the best albums to come out in recent years. It was at least as good as the Strokes album, IMHO.

The first Lib record is amazing. I would buy it all over again just for Pete's backing vocals on Boys In The Band(And Now I'm jealous, I'm jealous of my own..)

And I've got some hope for the second DPT album.. Heard one or two of the new songs and read some of the stuff carlos wrote about the process and it sounds good enough to me.
