The CD on Sargasso was excellent and been coming across more things from him lately. There is always something quite 'anarchic' lurking beneath the surface.

He gave an interview once where he mouthed off that he didn't care what his scores sounded like - that's the spirit!

For increased oxygen distribution!

(An old, silly in-joke. But I really like what I've heard of his music.)

Yeah he's a great trombone player. The one i'm really liking right now is 'Laboratorium' for 11 players and from '73 - you could mistake lots of this for free playing but there are all these crucial interventions likethe two-note 'hallowen' piano riff with 'primitive perc coming in at about 3 mins in and the way instruments come in-and-out that sound really composed. Again, i've read somewhere he is quite sceptical of improv in general.
