In the city built on laughter
I have found you crying

About the word 'awesome' here...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 22 June 2006 01:02 (nineteen years ago)

okay!

Oh I'd rather go and journey where the diamond crest is flowing and
Run across the valley beneath the sacred mountain and
Wander through the forest
Where the trees have leaves of prisms and break the light in colors

"awesome" right?

I've written you a book all about a silly man.
I've painted you a picture of a donkey.
I've brought along some insects,
you may call them by my name.
And there is also a monkey.

All summer long
we refused to die
We just sucked and fucked and got high
And all we'd steal.
we lit up on the ferris wheel

Felt good to burn.
felt like a movie star
When you hold my slippery brain
Kiss my forehead

nicky lo-fi (nicky lo-fi), Thursday, 22 June 2006 07:31 (nineteen years ago)

In another land where the breeze and the
Trees and flowers glow blue
I stood and held your hand.
And the grass grew high and the feathers floated by
I stood and held your hand.
And nobody else's hand will ever do
Nobody else will do
And I awoke
Was this some kind of joke
Much to my surprise
I opened my eyes.

We walked across the sand and the sea and
The sky and the castles were blue.
I stood and held your hand.
And the spray flew high and the feathers floated by
I stood and held your hand.
And nobody else's hand will ever do
Nobody else will do
Then I awoke
Was this some kind of joke
Much to my surprise
When I opened my eyes.

We heard the trumpets blow and the sky
Turned grey when I accidently said
That I didn't know how I came to be here
Not fast asleep in bed.
I stood and held your hand.
And nobody else's hand will ever do
Nobody else's hand
Then I awoke
Was this some kind of joke
I opened my eyes.
Much to my surprise.

it isn't really psychedelic, but for some reason i always imagine it to be psychedelic - "Both Sides, Now" by Joni Mitchell

I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's loves illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all

(guess it isn't really romantic either but still qualifies as awesome)

salexandra (salexander), Thursday, 22 June 2006 08:07 (nineteen years ago)

Or how 'bout:

Through the windless wells of wonder
By the throbbing light machine
In a tea leaf trance or under
Orders from the king and queen

Songs to aging children come
Aging children, I am one

People hurry by so quickly
Don’t they hear the melodies
In the chiming and the clicking
And the laughing harmonies

Songs to aging children come
Aging children, I am one

Some come dark and strange like dying
Crows and ravens whistling
Lines of weeping, strings of crying
So much said in listening

Songs to aging children come
Aging children, I am one

Does the moon play only silver
When it strums the galaxy
Dying roses will they will their
Perfumed rhapsodies to me

Songs to aging children came
This is one

(Such an under-rated song. And as much as I want to get behind the whole "freak folk" thing, or the whole "Vashti Bunyan comes out of retirement thing", or even the whole "let's listen to the Incredible String Band" thing, this one song kind of renders all of it irrelevant; harmonically, at least. And it's just ONE song by Joni. God-damn, she's hot shit!)
