Cope likes him/them, I picked up a CDR (Projection) used pretty much because the back cover showed most of Acid Mothers Temple in a recording studio, there's this site, etc. Any other stories?

he also curated the Million Tongues / Two Million Tongues CDs for Arthur .... and set up the festivals of the same name ....

Plastic Crimewave "Caged Fire Theme" on Million Tongues is pretty fierce ...

They played in my town and dedicated a song to all the bikers in the crowd. Nice guys. The split with Oneida is good.

The albums on Eclipse are pretty good, but kinda painful to listen to on headphones.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Thursday, 13 July 2006 13:53 (nineteen years ago)

he was in the unshown (with tar pet of spires that in the sunset rise) and they did at least one cdr (the golden curse). i like it heaps more than PCS, it's like mystical psychedelic noise with an evil vibe to it. somebody should reissue the fuck out of it.

he does galactic zoo dossier, too, of course.

I thought the first LP on Eclipse (Flashing Open) was excellent. Haven't heard anything since.

let us not forget about this:

http://www.nbc5.com/news/8213707/detail.html

A Chicago woman accused of stowing away on a plane to attend the South by Southwest Festival faces a federal charge.

Catherine “Cat” Chow, a 33-year-old artist, was on the standby list for a flight from St. Louis to Austin, booked through American Airlines. When she found out the flight was full, Chow snuck past gate agents, boarded the plane and hid in the bathroom, authorities said.

Chow told authorities she “knew what she did was wrong, but wanted to meet with her friends in Austin . . . to participate in the South by Southwest activities,” documents said.

Airport police said they found marijuana and six antidepressant tablets without a prescription label.

Chow was charged with boarding an airplane without permission, a federal crime, and two state misdemeanors, possession of marijuana and possession of a dangerous drug.

Chow was being held in the Travis County jail on a $3,000 bail.

Flashing Open is great - I saw the new double-LP which looked amazing but it was too expensive and I haven't heard it.

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 13 July 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

Oh man, that Cat Chow story is a shame.

Tripmaker (SDWitzm), Thursday, 13 July 2006 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

The new double lp is the best thing they've done. They've turned into an evil noisier Hawkwind.Kinda.

MORE DAMAGED GUITAR GOD TRADING CARDS PLS.

haven't heard the new record or the old one; saw 'em live a few years back and could take it or leave it. we got the new record at the store, though. maybe i'll give it a listen, if it really sounds like an evil, noisy hawkwind.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 14 July 2006 03:57 (nineteen years ago)

The lyrics were actually pretty good on Flashing Open.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 14 July 2006 03:57 (nineteen years ago)

we asked him to guest on guitar last october in chicago,he comes in w his special suitcase full of effects and pedals and basically performs the noise very efficiently..and he looks like one of his cartoons..very colorful character

dan bunnybrain (dan bunnybrain), Friday, 14 July 2006 13:15 (nineteen years ago)

This is the fop who works at Reckless, verdad?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 14 July 2006 15:37 (nineteen years ago)

I once was way too hard on PCW in a blog post. So sorry for that.

However, the band's music oftens seems a bit too crafted like it's a compendium of psych's greatest hits (record collector rock?). I don't pick up on those evil vibes. I basically get that the dude is an insane record collector who has excellent taste and who displays this in his music. I guess I just don't feel that mind bending power that all classic psych has -- y'know that swirling stoned insanity and freakery.

QuantumNoise (Justin Farrar), Friday, 14 July 2006 15:55 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, he works/worked at Reckless. Fop? Sure.
He also had a record collecting show on pulic access.

Just picked up the self-titled release on Prophase and the Collapserations II CDR which just happens to feature a guest spot from someone that posted on this very thread!

Just finished listening to the Collapserations CDR and I really loved the Oneida and Comets On Fire ones.

Steve Krakow has a memoir coming out later this year, sure to be a fascinating read. Couldn't pre-order fast enough.
