Classical music pieces in film

I'm trying to make a classical mix for a friend that's a film buff, and I thought it would be nifty to have liner notes that say, "this is that scene from ______." Include a specific recording if you can. I might eventually turn it into another probably pointless Wikipedia list ("Classical Pieces Used in Film" etc). Gratzi..

+Schubert, Sonata #20 in A Major (Kempff) :: Au Hasard, Balthasar (Bresson) [Credits, Finale]
+Chopin, Prelude #2 in A Minor (Pollini) :: Autumn Sonata (Bergman) [Liv/Ingrid Showdown]
+Beethoven, Ninth Symphony (Furtwangler) :: A Clockwork Orange (Kubrick) [Ludovico Treatment etc]

György Ligeti - Requiem for Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, 2 Mixed Choirs and Orchestra, performed by Bavarian Radio Orchestra conducted by Francis Travis - the weird monolith music from 2001. The opening "Thus Spake Zarustruthsa" by Richard Strauss (performed by Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Karl Bohm) is a little over-used.

Wagner's 'The Ride of the Valkieries' from Apocalypse Now's another standard. I like the Wagner stuff in Excalibur as well. I dunno who did the performances -- maybe you could dig that up online.
