Sorry about the bitches thing. I juss figger that an antagonizing attitude will get more people to read this...and also, shamelessly, this is a reposting of a prior question, so I apologize if you have read through this before...and oh yes, this is NOT a song by any of the following artists (but thank y'all for your ideas): Steve Ellis, Pere Ubu covering Peter Gabriel, The Lover Speaks, or Current 93...

Here goes:

I heard the song on Brazilian radio in 1999 or 2000. The station specialized in emerging alternative/independent music (but wasn't above playing "indie" hits from decades gone)--those facts might help limit the genre and approximate the release date of the song.

The song was sung in plain english by either an American or British band. The lyrics were very dark, sad, depressing. Specific lines (as specific as my memory permits) were: "thoughts of suicide"..."walking through my shattered [broken?] mind [thoughts?]"

The delivery of the lead singer was unique...it was a nasally, high-pitched male voice, and the lines were not so much sung as they were spoken in a staccato-like, forlorn manner. (appealing, I know)

After each verse, the chorus consisted of an angelic female voice singing in high tones over the background music. I don't remember much of the instrumentation--my radio reception wasn't all too great. I listened hard after the song for an artist name, but my portuguese at the time was lacking, and all I heard was the announcer say something to the effect of the song being called "Brooklyn Speaks" by the band Argent (I thought it may in fact be the band Argent of "Hold your head up" fame, but those two pieces of information have proven to be red herrings in my mind...I believe hindsight has falsified some of my memory concerning the song, although the line "thoughts of suicide" was in the song, without question)

I have searched and searched online for the song based on the info I have, and all I can ever find is intense goth-thrash about suicide and shattered minds...the song was very minimalistic, somewhat industrial, strange, and unnerving without trying too hard.

I hope someone has heard it and can help. Any leads will be appreciated, and like I said, if someone tells me the song or clues me into it, we will work a reward out--(lungs...first-born children)this has honestly bothered me for that long.

Cheers, cheers, cheers, and cheers.

i will continue posting this question ad infinitum...lets all hope i get an answer.

I wouldn't get hung up on it, it sounds like you don't have enough information to go on for anyone to make some sort of reasonable guess.

well I at least would remember more than: "thoughts of suicide"..."walking through my shattered [broken?] mind [thoughts?]"

...sounds a lot like my first year poetry workshop.

The one with the glasses is a cutie, at least in my book. But yeah, those eyebrows on Ms. Front'n'Center look like she waxed off the originals and had them replaced with a tattoo...

I'm having trouble picturing what was she wearing that covered her upper arms but left her forearms and shoulders exposed

dmr (Renard), Saturday, 15 July 2006 19:31 (nineteen years ago)

I'm guessing some kinda baby-doll t-shirt with a higher neckline than what she's wearing in the pic.
