Thurston Moore and Nels Cline "In-store"?

What do you think of this Free Jazz/Dream Guitar live collaberation? I think it is an incredible recording. "Pillow Wand" which was recorded the same day comes off quite boring. However, "In-store" is full of creshendos and the constant medisimo between the two guitars. While Thurston is a non-trained musician and serves a batch of guitar tricks that will melt your face off. Nels Cline is of course the essential leader in the LA free jazz guitar scene. The equation works in my mind. I believe this album is a fine bravura of both guitarists. IMO: classic. What do you think: Classic or Dud?

I love In-Store, definitely one of my favorite improv releases by Nels or Thurston. and I agree that it's much better than Pillow Wand.

These guys played as proper duo for the first time in 10 years at the Wilco fest this summer. One full hour of pure facemelt.

saw these guys a couple times in LA sometime in the mid 90s. was over my teenage head at the time tbh, but i'd probably love it now. i remember after 45 minutes of skronking they got slightly quieter, and some bro shouted out 'BOW DOWN TO THE KINGS OF NOISSSSSE".

haha I love it when people shout things like that. Seems like a very LA thing, no?

When I saw some horror film themes cover band at Cinefamily, a dude would shout "Yes sir! YES! SIR!" during all the rockouts
