Just got the Sway record.

What other stuff should I track down? Especially hip-hop stuffs.

Wait, you're looking for hip-hop stuff you can't get in America.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 17 July 2006 19:04 (nineteen years ago)

Sure!

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Monday, 17 July 2006 19:17 (nineteen years ago)

I'd say get the Wiley, JME, Ruff Sqwad and Neckle Camp mixtapes, but I think they are all still only available at UK Record Shop which doesn't maintain a physical store so meh.

what city are you going to be in?

fandango (fandango), Monday, 17 July 2006 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

Plenty of haircut indie should be available. and maybe both of the greatest hits compilations by the Bluetones.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 17 July 2006 20:05 (nineteen years ago)

Are Geri Halliwell cd singles available in the states? You can get them for 20p in any charity shop.

Also, you can get the This Heat box cheaper, although admittedly that's not hip-hop. Is Geri hip-hop? She may have had a phase, I can't remember.

I would say go to Sister Ray in London, if you can.

If you want to hear / look at UK hip hop, and you're in London, you might consider popping along to Deal Real, just off Carnaby Street.

I'm a bit out of touch with UKHH these days, though this fellow's recommendations have always done me proud in the past:

Oh and another thing you should consider, if you can face the idea of seeing London ILx in its natural environment:

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 14:31 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks for the advice, everyone! Keep it coming!

I've been here about 5 days and I really like that Rogue Traders song with the wicked-as-fuck Elvis Costello sampleI keep hearing on the radio and on the video box. I wonder if they've done anything in america yet.

I wish someone told me how weak Sway's album tracks were.

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

Rogue Traders /= English

don (dow), Friday, 21 July 2006 16:18 (nineteen years ago)

It seems both Boogy Bytes and Sci Fi Hi Fi series are rather hard to find in Canada, and amazon says it takes 4 weeks for delivery. That is if you happen to like electro / minimal.

Also i would imagine Fabric series should be much cheaper in England.

scnnr drkly (scnnr drkly), Friday, 21 July 2006 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

haha "Tiger Baby"

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Friday, 21 July 2006 16:39 (nineteen years ago)

Boogybytes are normal price in the States but the SciFiHiFi's are $20-plus imports, fwiw
