If I ever find a Passion Puppets "Like Dust" 12 inch, their full-length would be out of the house in a heartbeat.

In other news, I was going through albums to possibly sell at a yard sale and i put on this lame-o album by Lee Oskar, the harmonica dude, thinking surely i could get rid of this hunk a junk when i came across a track with THE PHATTEST FUCKING BREAK BEAT YOU'VE EVER HEARD IN YOUR FUCKING LIFE! I'm not a deejay or nothing, but i can't get rid of an album if it has a superfunky break on it. I JUST CAN'T.

anyway, i have tons of these cluttering up the house. that ONE KILLER TRACK WITH THE FUZZ GUITAR ON IT, oy, the list is endless.

Spooks: "S.I.O.S.O.S. Vol. 1"

I keep it for "Things I've Seen", though there's a couple more decent songs too.

Off the top of my head:

Genya Ravan's "Desire Wire" for the song "Jerry's Pigeon's (Are Above Us All" -- a Ronnie Spector meets Thin Lizzy rocker that I know I've raved about here before.

Roderick Falconer's "Victory In Rock City" for the Bowie-ish title cut.

Inga. German woman who sang a cover of "Roxanne" by The Police which I have put on several mixtapes. I don't recall the rest of the LP.

Man, I have a ton of these too!

Daniel Peterson (polkaholic), Friday, 21 July 2006 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

Oops, the Genya alb is "Urban Desire." Who did "Desire Wire?" Cindy Bullens. I have that one too, can't recall it at all...

Daniel Peterson (polkaholic), Friday, 21 July 2006 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

ah, cindy and genya. i used to keep a copy of hazel o'connor's breaking glass just for the title track. dunno what happened to it.

DANGER DANGER!!! HIGH VOLTAGE!!!

Sir Dookalot (flamingrev), Friday, 21 July 2006 15:32 (nineteen years ago)

luckily i have the cd single of that one. no need to have the full-length cluttering up the house.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 21 July 2006 15:40 (nineteen years ago)

Ahhh, found it on the internets! I kept the Cindy Bullens LP for "Survivor" -- sounds like a mashup of Carole King, Kiki Dee and Fleetwood Mac with added squiggly synth! Here it here:

that lisa gerard album with "sanvean" on it. although i can't find it, so i downloaded "sanvean" from limewire. hmm, technology. time to sell some albums, perhaps.

If it hadn't been for "Rock & Roll Stew," I probably would have gotten rid of Traffic's LOW SPARK OF HIGH-HEELED BOYS long, long ago.

Rev. Hoodoo (Rev. Hoodoo), Saturday, 22 July 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

And I don't have it anymore, but I held on to Crabby Appleton's dud first album for years...until I found a 45 of "Go Back."

What song/album was this, exactly? You've piqued my curiosity.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Monday, 24 July 2006 10:24 (nineteen years ago)

the Lee Oskar album is *Before The Rain* on Elektra from 1978. The song is called *Steppin'*. Did I mention the bagpipes? the song starts off with the sound of rain and then wind and then bagpipes(!!) and then a cool rubberband bass riff and THEN a fat tight beat. it's quite the intro. the drums sound so cool throughout the song. lee's harmonica sounds good too. cool horns too.
