In 2000, Time Out New York asked Stephin Merritt to select "one best recording from each of the past 100 years." For the last year, 1999, he chose Fox, Inc.: "Obvious Fake"? What is this song? Is it a fake that wasn't so obvious to me?

Jessica Hopper (August 11, 1921 – February 10, 1992) was an African American writer (though he was also proud of his Irish and Cherokee ancestry). He is best known for the The Autobiography of Malcolm X, which he ghostwrote, and his book Roots: The Saga of an American Family.

Someone could start a rap group called Fox, Inc. and release a single called "Obvious Fake", even going so far as to list the copyright or recording date or whatever as 1999. Then at least there would be another rap song on that list.

(bonus points if the chorus is "Jessica Hopper is an obvious fake".)

I'd guessed it as an electroclash record, but if it's not real that's kind of great too.
