hot car fuckin' fuckfest (teenagequiet), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 18:44 (nineteen years ago)

they were goddamn killing machines on that tour; i find it hard to believe that this won't be awesome

hot car fuckin' fuckfest (teenagequiet), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 18:45 (nineteen years ago)

Lovely! A new album would be better but obviously ain't happening so I'll take this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 18:46 (nineteen years ago)

amazing cover.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 18:50 (nineteen years ago)

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 19:12 (nineteen years ago)

Drive Like Jehu was 1,000,000x better than the Hot Snakes (and that thread's been done on ILM a few times, use the search function if you feel like dealing with Poxy Fules).

That said, I remember the first Hot Snakes tour extremely well, a packed to the gills Bottom Of The Hill being crunched up near the front. It's too bad that Rick didn't get to write any of the music on the first album as he's a better musician than John IMFO. I'd buy their greatest hits.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 19:14 (nineteen years ago)

i wanna hear it!!!

edde (edde), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

Hot Snakes doing Luau and (I think) Rome Plows as an encore for their last ever show was one of my personal highlights of 2005

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:05 (nineteen years ago)

didn't they break up?

boonah (boonah), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:08 (nineteen years ago)

Thus, for instance, the reference earlier to their last show.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:13 (nineteen years ago)

sorry Ned, i just got my hopes up and didn't fully read before I posted

boonah (boonah), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:16 (nineteen years ago)

don't ever apologize to ned. he's not your mother.

david allen grier (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:17 (nineteen years ago)

You'd be surprised.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:18 (nineteen years ago)

Great band, and the rock and roll and cetera. But mostly I'm digging the garish bad-good-bad cover art. Makes me want to go to Australia and rub my fingers over a large brain coral.

fuckfuckingfuckedfucker (fuckfuckingfuckedfucker), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:20 (nineteen years ago)

August just got really good all of a sudden.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:35 (nineteen years ago)

It looks like a package of View Master reels.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:41 (nineteen years ago)

(Not saying that's bad! I agree with slutsky.)

"Hot Snakes doing Luau and (I think) Rome Plows as an encore for their last ever show was one of my personal highlights of 2005" -- DJ Mencap

Very nice. Drive Like Jehu playing the Lounge Axe in '94 on the Yank Crime tour remains a personal highlight. They closed the show with Luau, basically the band members standing stone-faced while Reis shrieked and shook in a greased-up sweaty mess, back to the audience, in front of his amplifier for minutes on end . . . they almost didn't play the gig b/c the bass player was still sick from celebrating his birthday the night before. Will look forward to hearing this new live thing.

tate (Tate), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 20:50 (nineteen years ago)

That cover's only missing one thing...

I suppose this will have to substitute for never having seen them

Major Alfonso (Major Alfonso), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 21:58 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yes. Fantastic cover art. Count me in.

Harpal (harpal), Tuesday, 25 July 2006 22:09 (nineteen years ago)

people who collect shit taped off the radio will be excited to hear that this has one track not included in the original broadcast

kit (kit brash), Thursday, 27 July 2006 08:29 (nineteen years ago)

is the title a veiled fart reference

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 27 July 2006 12:25 (nineteen years ago)

wowzers. gotta grab that. I shouldn't complain, but i would like to see 10th Planet and/or Paid In Cigaretts on there...

ps- is the split-up final? i haven't really kept up on the various members.

J. Grizzle (trainsmoke), Thursday, 27 July 2006 19:15 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, Drive Like Jehu was most certainly not 1,000,000X better than Hot Snakes. I'd put them on equal plane (even though I do listen to HS significantly more often).

Anyway, I'm glad to see this coming out. Most addictive band ever.

paid in cigarettes (paid in cigarettes), Thursday, 27 July 2006 19:28 (nineteen years ago)

two weeks pass...
So, I got the LP today and it's every bit as fantastic as I thought it'd be. I'm so glad they released this. It's on sleek clear purple vinyl, too!

Harpal (harpal), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

i didn't know they had broken up.... so sad... is speedo now soley dedicated to sultans then? that'd be a shame.

grady (grady), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 19:28 (nineteen years ago)

That and Swami, it seems. It ain't everything but alas.
