Harvest Records is a nice place.

I've only visited the city a couple times, but if you just walk around the downtown area you easily come across some decent seeming shops. No idea if there's any hidden gems though.

You should have dinner at the Laughing Seed if you are a granola-loving hippie type (or you just like good vegetarian chow).

Haven't been in at least a year (so I don't know if they're still open) but:
Green Eggs and Jam (82 N. Lexington Ave.)
Voltage Records (90 N. Lexington Ave.)

Both have new/used CDs and vinyl, but GE&J has more DVDs.

Inspect those used CDs before purchasing...I've bought CDs from both stores that have skipped.

two years pass...

harvest records is really, really, really great, and not just by asheville standards--by any standard.

voltage was good for vinyl, esp. country vinyl. static age records had some good punk stuff and experimental stuff, but the selection was small and somewhat haphazard.

and that was about it, that i could find.
