All three on the lam and headed down Mexico way.

Christopher Cross's body is weak, yet there's no time to sleep. Johnny Cash went the wrong way into Juarez with Juanita on his lap. And Jimi caught his woman messing around with another man

Who would you head to the border with?

Boz Scaggs - "Lido Shuffle" trumps them all - sure, Lido seems to be in some trouble, but it sounds like he's having a lot more fun in the process. Woah-oh-ohh-ohhhh!

i think bob dylan had a hell of a time in "isis" - no jewels, no nothin'.

How about Billy Joe and Bobbi Sue in "Take The Money And Run," at least implicitly?

Where was Dylan actually going in Isis, though? Does Mexico have a lot of pyramids embedded in ice?

Dylan drove throught the canyons, through the devilish cold. The wind was howling and the snow was outrageous, so they probably went up north, to Candada or arctic circle.

well, not mexico explicitly, but i always pictured a jaunt through that area, on horseback, looking for treasure that i always used to assume was aztec, cause of the turquoise and gold. there aren't canyons in canada, and it gets really fucking cold in the desert, though there's no snow. there are mountains though - especially if he came up through arizona. there's definitely snow at the higher elevations.

there's always "goin' to acapulco" off the basement tapes.

weirdly i just downloaded "Ride Like the Wind" yesterday, for some unknown reason, and i gotta say that with Michael McDonald riding shotgun, I'm gonna go with this song.

that's so taylrr (ken taylrr), Saturday, 29 July 2006 19:29 (nineteen years ago)

I guess I can kind of buy that re: Isis. But where does this put it in relation to "Romance in Durango," if both are set in Mexico? Is all of Desire a concept album detailing an elaborate, world-spanning journey beginning in Jersey and ending up in Black Diamond Bay by way of the Mexican pyramids, Durango, and Mozambique? It all ends in tragedy, though: he fails to learn the lesson of his traveling companion in "Isis" and when he gets to where the treasure is supposed to be, "the beach is deserted, except for some kelp."

Ride Like the Wind narrowly defeats Peg, Any World That I'm Welcome To and This Is It, for "Most Michael McDonaldlike Michael McDonald backing vocal of all time."

The first time I heard it I thought it was someone doing an intentionally funny Michael McDonald impression.

"Such a long way to gooooooooooo"
