I heard a rumour that Pitchfork is going to give this slab o meat a ten! ;)
Seriously though...holy shit. Meeted, greeted, and subsequently kicked my expectations' asses.

it kind of just sounds like wolf parade & destroyer in a blender. save the djs the mashup trouble.

and frog parade

or Wolf Eyes. Wait a minute. Scratch that.

I'm pumped for this, but can Vancouver handle two indie supergroups?

my lord. just because it has members from good bands does not make their collaboration instantly a ten. i've heard it, it's nice. a solid 7, but jesus there is nothing best new music about this at all, if anything it's best same music that these guys have already put out.

boonah it was a joke. didn't you see my little wink?
in any case, i'm finding that it rewards with repeated listens. Mercer is a genius. And the three together have never sounded better. Best new music? I'd say yes. Does it sound like their previous output? Sort of. But they each have such distinctive sounds/voices it would be hard to etch something completely "new". And really, who gives a shit as long as it blows my socks off like this one does?

i guess I'm wearing really tight socks, mine are still feeling pretty snug and most definitely on

at the risk of sounding captain obvious, the fork has a tendency of inducting very similar indie-tastic bands. we shall see.

Heard this twice now and I must say that I'm not overly impressed. The Krug songs work best and even though the guy has been a little over-exposed in the past twelve months, I think the record could have done with more of him. Try as I might, I just can't warm to Carey Mercer and I find Bejar to be a bit hit-and-miss. Seems like there are too many ideas here and not enough of them coalesce. I'm willing to give it a bit more of a chance because of the guys' track records, but yeah, initial impression; meh.

a sense of not much of an interest or seriousness about the project from the 3 (honourable) members is felt on this record, at least for the first few listens.
but there are a few highlights here and there.

two years pass...

Hey, the new one is really good so far.

OldHamSweat, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 21:09 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

I thought the last one was fairly patchy, Enemy Mine seems a little more consistent if still not as good as the talent involved would indicate.
