Um, between this and "Kicker" off of the Spaceships and Pings comp, Marc Houle is destroying shit. He's really making som fun techno, and you can totally hear a strong Neue Deutsch Welle influence in his music.

Which reminds me of the Minimal Wave site. Um, also amazing, and I've heard that he helps his girlfriend run the site. But I can neither confirm nor deny.

Also, M_nus related, the new JPLS is really fun, too. Dubbed-out, sound dork shit that makes me really happy. Also, also M_nus related, we're trying to set up a Marc Houle and JPLS show here in San Francisco at [Kontrol]. YUSS!!!

I heard this record today and was able to not only sit through its entirety, but also very much enjoy it, which is a feat for a techo lp. not a big fan of 'edamame's token m_nimalism but the following 'items and things' really picks things up, probably my favorite track so far. nice artwork too.

what's JPLS?

JPLS is a new signing on M_nus.

There's one track on the min2MAX comp, a few on the recent Magda mix, and he's releasing his own record on M_nus some time in the near future.

Edamame's 8-bit fuckery is the only part that doesn't do a lot for me. But even so, it kinda keeps things light. Um, but now that I think about it ... there are really very few techno albums that constitute quality albums as a whole. For this year, Alex Smoke's Paradolia counts in my book.

beatport quality mp3s of this have been floating around for 3 months. ridiculous delay on the official release. how's the artwork printed? it looks screened!

lead track is AMAZING through a system...

I thought I was hallucinating the quality of this after seeing so many conflicting reviews elsewhere! I think it's very listenable, and in an immediate dancefloor way as well as a headphones way. I don't know if I can say the same of a lot of things I've listened to lately.
