Queensrÿche - Revolution Calling (the first, oh, two or three seconds)

Øystein (Øystein), Thursday, 21 September 2006 12:51 (nineteen years ago)

Charlie Howard (the sphinx), Thursday, 21 September 2006 14:03 (nineteen years ago)

mister the guanoman (mister the guanoman), Thursday, 21 September 2006 14:12 (nineteen years ago)

Best ringtone EVER:
opening riff of "Lucy in the sky with diamonds"

Paul Edward Wagemann (PaulEdwardWagemann), Thursday, 21 September 2006 14:17 (nineteen years ago)

I thought of "Day Tripper", but surely that is already a ringtone

Dominique (dleone), Thursday, 21 September 2006 14:17 (nineteen years ago)

Peter Hook's bass riff that opens 'Transmission'. (I actually used to have that looped as a ringtone.)

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 21 September 2006 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

My ringtone is the "Main Title From The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3" by David Shire. I never get tired of it.

I should make one from Throbbing Gristle's "Hamburger Lady".

Edward III (edward iii), Thursday, 21 September 2006 14:29 (nineteen years ago)

bjork - big time sensuality

Charlie Howard (the sphinx), Thursday, 21 September 2006 14:30 (nineteen years ago)

The cascading synth riff in the Junior Boys' "Birthday". Specifically the one at 3:04.

wherewasyou (wherewasyou), Thursday, 21 September 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

not an intro but still...

wherewasyou (wherewasyou), Thursday, 21 September 2006 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

be my baby

millenarian (millenarian), Thursday, 21 September 2006 19:20 (nineteen years ago)

Somebody must have a "Smoke on the Water" ringtone.

Everything Is Ill-Educated (noodle vague), Thursday, 21 September 2006 19:20 (nineteen years ago)

For some reason Welcome to the Jungle jumped into my head when I read the question, but the more I think about it the less it works.

I used the intro to McLusky's To Hell With Good Intentions as my ringtone for a while.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 21 September 2006 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

Iron Maiden's Phantom of the Opera maybe...

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 21 September 2006 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

"Yeah" by L'il John ownz this thread.

schwantz (schwantz), Thursday, 21 September 2006 19:57 (nineteen years ago)

Porkypie always used to have Blister in the Sun on his phone, which was rather good.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 21 September 2006 20:09 (nineteen years ago)

the Piano/guitars in Midnight Oil's My Country would work.

Rufus 3000 (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 21 September 2006 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

I always wanted the guitar intro to Long Distance Runaround.

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Thursday, 21 September 2006 20:37 (nineteen years ago)

How the fuck do you "make" a ringtone?

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Thursday, 21 September 2006 21:32 (nineteen years ago)

Can - "I'm So Green"

William Ryan Stuart Hamilton (Stagger Lee), Thursday, 21 September 2006 21:37 (nineteen years ago)

Mott The Hoople: "All The Way To Memphis" and "The Crash Street Kidds"

Orgy of Pragmatism (Charles McCain), Thursday, 21 September 2006 21:43 (nineteen years ago)

I have no idea how one creates a ringtone, but if I knew how to do it, I'd make mine the harmonic bass intro to the Fall's "Who Makes the Nazis?".

Hot Hot Heat (Hot Hot Heat), Thursday, 21 September 2006 22:31 (nineteen years ago)

I have XTC's "I'd Like That" as my ringtone. The guitar intro works nicely.

Sean Robison (yaratnam), Thursday, 21 September 2006 22:47 (nineteen years ago)

The blastoff thing at the beginning of Tortoise's Standards would be a pretty hot ringtone.

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Thursday, 21 September 2006 22:49 (nineteen years ago)

i've found Skream's "Midnight Request Line" perfect for my cell

grandaddy's 'am 180' seems made for it

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 21 September 2006 23:00 (nineteen years ago)

You know, if everyone who had a complex piece of equipment called "a mobile phone that can play polyphonic ringtones", that are sufficiently at one with the technology and procedures involved in downloading such ringtomes for however much they cost, instead got off their buttons and went and made their own, things like "Crazy Frog" could be avoided from now on!

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 22 September 2006 08:15 (nineteen years ago)

Somebody must have a "Smoke on the Water" ringtone.

Yes, that exists. We had a meeting at work with the chairman of a large automotive company, and his mobile went off with this ringtone.

Bob Six (bobbysix), Friday, 22 September 2006 11:08 (nineteen years ago)

Devo - Gut Feeling.

They keyboard section at the beginning is great.

Griff Sheridan (Griff Sheridan), Friday, 22 September 2006 12:39 (nineteen years ago)

My phone plays mp3s. I 'make' a ringtone by picking a song.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 22 September 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

I have no idea how one creates a ringtone, but if I knew how to do it, I'd make mine the harmonic bass intro to the Fall's "Who Makes the Nazis?".

That's a good one.

Edward III (edward iii), Saturday, 23 September 2006 02:52 (nineteen years ago)

Mine plays the intro to "Love Rollercoaster". In the past, I've had Miserlou. My phone is the cheap Motorola V180, but it has a USB port so I can hook it up to my comp and put mp3 snippets on it.

musically (musically), Saturday, 23 September 2006 05:39 (nineteen years ago)

nostormo, Thursday, 4 April 2013 09:48 (thirteen years ago)

I made a "Gangnam Style" ringtone for my son.

my father will guide me up the stairs to bed (anagram), Thursday, 4 April 2013 09:54 (thirteen years ago)

I used to have Ceremony intro, now its Louis Armstrong's West End Blues intro because it wakes me up in the morning

Dr X O'Skeleton, Thursday, 4 April 2013 12:18 (thirteen years ago)

Stillness Is The Move is mine. Works well, except for a couple of times where I've been in a bar with indie-leaning taste in background music and reached for my phone by mistake. Used to have Two Minutes To Midnight but it didn't quite have the necessary shrillness for optimum audibility. I remember reading a Neil Strauss interview with a mafioso who had Smooth Criminal as his.

Supposed Former ILM Lurker (WeWantMiles), Thursday, 4 April 2013 12:35 (thirteen years ago)

Nobody choose 'Marquee Moon',right?

That's mine!

Mark G, Thursday, 4 April 2013 12:44 (thirteen years ago)

Devo: are we not man? might be the best ringtone album ever

nostormo, Thursday, 4 April 2013 12:55 (thirteen years ago)

MarkoP, Thursday, 4 April 2013 15:26 (thirteen years ago)

I've used Ceremony, Love Vigilantes and Age of Consent at different times. All work well. Currently using a sample from Ferris Bueller. 'Bueller, Bueller…'

brotherlovesdub, Thursday, 4 April 2013 15:30 (thirteen years ago)

the little blippy bit at the start of hella's hold your horse is

Crackle Box, Thursday, 4 April 2013 15:32 (thirteen years ago)

I use these intros for my ringtones

Regular calls: Miss Modular - Stereolab
From my wife: Camarillo Brillo - Frank Zappa
From a work manager: Step Into My Office, Baby - Belle & Sebastian

Moodles, Thursday, 4 April 2013 15:32 (thirteen years ago)

I used to use Belle and Sebastian's "Another Sunny Day".

skip, Thursday, 4 April 2013 16:03 (thirteen years ago)

I used to have Can's I Want More, Stereolab's Pop Quiz and Human League's WXJL Tonight on my old HTC. Assigning MP3 ringtones is a bit more of a faff on the iPhone but I've managed to get Boards of Canada - Zoetrope on there for now.

Michael Jones, Thursday, 4 April 2013 16:45 (thirteen years ago)

antillas - el guincho
