mentioned on a King Crimson thread revive, but thought since he was more famous for Bad Co., he deserved his own thread. Not the strongest KC lineup for sure, and Bad Co. kinda one of those classic rock staples that, while not exactly dud, certainly don't need to hear again. nevertheless, cool rock'n'roll name and decent bassist, esp. considering Fripp had to teach him to play when he joined.

Islands is a really underrated Crimson record. Shame

And he's responsible for one of the most wacked-out performances of "21st Century Schizoid Man" in human history - the version on Earthbound.

Someone on ILM once said it sounded like Tom Smith fronting Fushitsusha and that's not too far off.

No word on cause of death it seems...

"21st Century" Earthbound version = classic.
His vocal improvisations on Earthbound = definitely not so.

Still, RIP

For a minute I confused him with Boz Boorer (Polecats, Morrissey) and that bothered me a lot more than this news does. Perhaps because I'm only familiar with the '72-74 KC lineup.

Yes, R.I.P. Mr. Raymond "Boz" Burrell - did you know that his pre-K.C. solo singles are published (in England, in the 60's, pre-RM) by a company called "Roxy Music"?

Burrell was also in Keith Tippett's Centipede, but on vocals only since there were already six bass players in the band.
