A la "Come on Eileen." I've long wondered how many songs there are that do this.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 24 September 2006 22:07 (nineteen years ago)

Zamla Mammaz Manna do it in "With Right of Veto", and it's awesome

Dominique (dleone), Sunday, 24 September 2006 22:12 (nineteen years ago)

I haven't heard it in yonks, but I have a feeling that Fatboy Slim's 'The Rockafeller Skank' might do something along these lines, the only issue being whether the slow-down is abrupt enough.

Shoes say, yeah, no hands clap your good bra. (goodbra), Sunday, 24 September 2006 22:55 (nineteen years ago)

doesn't "Come On, Eileen" end up going noticeably faster than it was before the breakdown? or does it just seem that way?

also: The Replacements - "We're Coming Out", kind of

Possibly. Now that I'm re-listening to it, it does seem that way.

wogan lenin (dog latin), Monday, 25 September 2006 11:26 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know how gradual the speed up is, or if the slowdown is to halftime, but after 24 hours I realize the song I have been hearing on faraway internal radio is "Suspicious Minds."

Run Ruud Run (Ken L), Monday, 25 September 2006 11:39 (nineteen years ago)

Wogan is right re: MLIR; it's Sunday Sunday and what I came to say. :( Instead I will offer Bright Eyes' The Calendar Hung Itself to the Gods.

These Robust Cookies (Robust Cookies), Monday, 25 September 2006 17:32 (nineteen years ago)

Actually I can't remember how that song starts, but the gradual speed-up is there. I think it's a pretty common hardcore punk device.

ten years pass...

A friend of mine's daughter is a gymnast, and she's looking for an instrumental song that changes tempo radically once or twice, for a floor exercise. Any ideas?

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 7 October 2016 23:04 (nine years ago)

Lana del Rey - West Coast

verse is on 123bpm and chorus goes down to 100bpm... think it would be a nice dance routine song but I'm not a gymnast so no idea.

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now also does the tempo change I think?

✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 7 October 2016 23:44 (nine years ago)

Yeah it goes into overdrive after a slow intro but I don't think it ever comes back down

Good call on West Coast!

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 8 October 2016 00:09 (nine years ago)

I also just remembered MCM 13 - "How To Run A Train"
