1. Radiohead - Fitter/Happier

Never has such a throwaway track been dissected so many times and in such detail.

Blur 'Modern Life Is Rubbish' to thread...my favourite album of all time (Mansun - Six) also has a brilliant interlude featuring harpsichord, two opera singers, and Tom Baker of Doctor Who reading out a poem about the death of Brian Jones. Most people loathe it, however. :-D

THe interlude on MLIR is the best thing on there.

Six is a great record!

"Popscene" would have been the best thing on MLIR ahem.

The Ken Livingstone interlude on The Great Escape is a strange one.

The audio-vérité spoken-bits on Trout Mask Replica, particularly the rat-shooting anecdote that bridges "Dachau Blues" and "Ella Guru".

The interludes on the Mother's "We're Only In It For the Money" - "Hi boys and girls, I'm Jimmy Karl Black and I'm the Indian of the group."

as a rule i intensely dislike interludes

that said, i don't mind 'dishonest don part I" on les savy fav's 'cat and the cobra'. i particulary like how it segues into 'dishonest don part II'

"Interlude One" and "Flute Interlude" on Duran Duran's 'Big Thing' album are really great, and make complete sense in the context of that fabulous side 2.

Husker Du's "Mondays Will Never Be The Same", a brief solo piano respite before the rest of Zen Arcade comes roaring back in.

Pink Floyd-On The Run (My preferred interlude from Dark Side)

Orgy of Pragmatism (Charles McCain), Monday, 25 September 2006 16:30 (nineteen years ago)

I like the interludes that tell cassette listeners to flip the tape over. There's one on Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever, with Del Shannon making animal noises in the background. And there's one on UGK's Ridin' Dirty, telling CD listeners to smoke something and "let that shit ride out."

The whitebread radio show bit right before "Welcome to the Terrordome" on Fear of a Black Planet (even if it stops mid-sentence for some reason).
